Okay, okay, okay. There is a serious lack of props for some really good bands in this thread. I'm obsessive over music so I am compelled to force it on people. So, recently I've been listening to: 311: Often dismissed as just another catchy radio rock band. Untrue. 311 has some of the most irie music I've ever heard. And the louder you turn the volume up, the more little things you notice in their songs. The bass is excellent and their songs ARE catchy. Regina Spektor: I'm learning how to play the piano, so her stuff is easy to learn and practice with, but not mind numbing like "Row Row Row Your Boat" for an hour every day. A lot of her stuff is really poppy and annoying but the stuff that isn't is gold. She's got a funky, weird style that I admire. The Pixies: First band I should have mentioned, since they're THE BEST BAND EVER. Ever. Don't argue. Some people think they're just really flippin' weird, especially if you actually think about what's being sung. I recommend "Gigantic" (Duh, that's why I listened to them the first time, cause of this title )," Here Comes Your Man", "Hey", "Mr. Grieves", the entire Surfer Rosa album... well, all of it. And if you like that, listen to... The Breeders: Kim Deal, the bass player from The Pixies, and her twin sister Kelly make up most of this band. By some miracle, they put out a new album fairly recently and I was lucky enough to see them in concert AND meet Kim, who is the reason I started playing music. I have never gone into such fangirl mode. It was pretty funny. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to say about a lot of music. But it's after 3 AM and I don't have it in me to rant.

Dammit, y'all got me started. Fang: If you like The Aquabats and Reel Big Fish, try the Dance Hall Crashers if you haven't heard them already. I just got off a big Ska kick so I can recommend a lot of real good stuff. Save Ferris, of course. And, <3 for the Aquabats. They were a big part of my high school years. Oh, then there's The Mad Conductor. Their stuff is a little hard to find but WELL worth it. Tomb Digging Shovels, Porchmen and Marifasa Lupina are the best songs by them. ... I'm going to bed, Music, leave me alone now! Blargh!
