Clare yelped, trying to catch Sam's hand but lost the grip. "H-Hey! Sam!" She yelled.
Karen, Sam's mother, opened her eyes weakly to hear the screams from outside her room. What was...going on when she couldn't stand over her son's shoulders?
-------------------------------
Sam felt a slap across his face that caused him to fall to the ground with a yelp. He opened his eyes warily to see none other then Gregory, his step-father, hovering over him with a rage-filled expression on his face.
"You stupid brat," he snarled, "What were you thinking bringing a pathetic HUMAN here...You idiot."
"I love her, Gregory, and there's nothing you can do about it," snarled Sam back as he was starting to get back up only to be kicked back down by the older man.
"I always knew you were different...but this is ridiculous...You are ruining this family's reputation!!!"
"YOU'RE NOT PART OF MY FAMILY AND YOU NEVER WILL BE!!" cried Sam.
This caused Gregory's eyes to widen then narrow..."You're worthless....Get out of my house..."
---------------------------------------
Karen wheezed as she forced herself to sit up. This was pushing herself but...it was clear her family was fighting. And was that...her Sammy's voice? She coughed in her hand, staring at the blood for a few moments before propping herself on a chair and using her furniture to get to the door. She leaned against the frame, panting. "Greg...Gregory..." She said in a small voice.
Clare stared at Sam with tear filled eyes. But she had to admit that she was shocked to find a skinny woman in a long night gown shakily standing in a doorway behind the step-father...
--------------------------------
Sam and Gregory glared at each other for a few good minutes before a small voice sounded out "Greg-Gregory..."
This caused all the men in the room to stare in shock.
"H-honey," stammered Gregory, "What are you doing out of bed... YOu should be resting!"
"Father's right," spoke Anders, nodding solemnly.
Sam could only stare in shock at the strong woman who took care of him so as a child was now all weak and feeble. It brought tears to his eyes. He couldn't deny she was dying anymore...
