"Come on! Hurry! Hurry!" Forte urged his friend pulling on his forearm, "I want to see them! And we'll get caught leaving if we hang around here all day!" The flamboyant red-head begged his friend with pleading grey eyes, his trademark winning smile turned into a sharp pout.
His dusty brown wings hummed in excitement. He took to the air, his feet brushing against the tall thick grass. He flitted off into the branches of a tall oak tree to help hide him and his firey locks. His brown pants, made of cured leather he stole from humans, had holes from abuse. But the happy-go-lucky fae didn't seem to mind. His good friend Mezzo, a dragonfly fae, was the perfectionist. Forte was just there to live life loud.
"Eral!" whined the smaller fae, "Come on already! Look! The sun is coming up!" And true to the fae's word the sky bruised itself over with pastel pinks and oranges.

Eral drew back slightly, shaking his head, when Forte pulled on his arm. His expression conveyed that he thought his friend had more than a few screws loose. The early morning had never really been Eral's favorite time to be awake, so he still blinked a bit. He did not know why Forte wanted to see a human. They were nothing special; they didn't even have wings. And, as Eral knew all too well, they could easily harm a fae. Most of those who knew him knew well enough that underneath his black pants, his right leg was riddled with bad scars.
"Wait--!" Eral muttered, still sleepy-voiced, when Forte suddenly flew off. He frowned, looking up into the tree where Forte stopped to watch the sun rise. He knew that, whether or not he wanted to go, Forte would go anyway. And, with as loud and bold as the other fae was, it didn't bode well for him being able to stay hidden. With a sigh, Eral took to the air as well, shaking his white-streaked black hair from his face. He alighted next to Forte, stumbling slightly on his bad leg. "Okay, what do you want to do exactly?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and making sure on his face that it was clear he didn't agree with the 'adventure.'

"I want to see them! I know what I'm doing and it isn't dangerous if you hide!" whined Forte with a pout. His wings fluttered rapidly keeping him airborn. Blush outlined his freckles.
"I think they are nice!" he piped up, "And I'm going. With or without you...you...stick-in-the-mud!" Sticking out his tongue, Forte zipped off into the wood. Not many humans would go into the woods thinking it was haunted. And it was in sorts. The fae had a guardian that moved in with them. He protected them from the taint of humans and their technology. It made Forte sad to think that the humans, in all their stunning glory, could not reconnect with their mother earth.
He peeked back hoping with all his might his friend had decided to follow. He would never admit it, but humans could be scary alone.

Sometimes, Eral wondered how he ever kept up with Forte's endless energy. He kept his dark green eyes on his fluttery friend as he jittered about in the air. "It isn't dangerous if you hide here," he clarified, knowing it to be useless to argue.
"You think they're nice?!" he exclaimed, looking perplexed. He almost countered that with some angry reminder of his own experience. But then Forte went and threw a lame insult and took off. Eral blinked and shook his head at the shock of his words. Then, reality clicked and he quickly took off after his friend. He wouldn't let him go off on his own around humans.
"Oi! What's your rush?" he called ahead as he steadily gained on Forte despite the head start; Eral was a good flier, perhaps to make up for the fact that he was lousy at walking or running.

Forte offered his friend merely a smile. He flew as fast as he could in silence for a while before finially speaking.
"I had a dream that we were at the human play area and a fasinating human was there," he explained in a hushed voice, "So I have to check it out! You know that!" His eyes sparkled with excitement as the playground came into view. He was used to the sounds of children laughing and screaming, but the play area was oddly silent.
Forte rested on the branch of a smaller, disease ridden oak. The dried out branch offered little strength. He panted hard with his efforts as he scanned the empty playground. The sharp scent of smoke struck the fae like a stone. He gagged loudly almost falling from the branch. What he didn't notice was the human smoking below him.

Eral offered a slight smile in return as he finally drew level with Forte. He listened to his explanation of the dream, cocking an eyebrow slightly. "But it was just a dream, Forte ..." he admonished lightly, still smirking. "And you know the human play area is ..." he had almost finished with 'always too crowded,' but already he heard very little from up ahead. Apparently no humans had brought their brats to play today. Not that he minded.
He landed hesitantly next to Forte, concerned about the branch. He didn't need to look over the playground to know that it was thankfully empty; he turned to Forte to encourage him to go back. It was just in time to see him gag, and shortly after Eral knew why. He threw a hand over his face to avoid the smell and keep himself from coughing. A single downward glance revealed the source, and Eral immediately grew more wary. He put his hand on Forte's shoulder to get his attention, then pointed briefly at the human before pressing a finger to his lips. ~~~~~ Beau leaned against the old lamppost (though the lamp was long gone), his dark grey eyes looking over the playground without really seeing. His black hair showed signs of having been slicked back until recently. That combined with his converse shoes, jeans, and partly-unbuttoned shirt suggested that he'd been to a semi-formal event that day. He took a drag of his cigarette, slowly exhaling the smoke after pulling it away from his face.
He glanced behind him into the forest when he heard a small, strange noise. Probably an animal, he mused to himself. But he didn't want to investigate; he wasn't that curious. He took a final pull from his cigarette before dropping the butt on the ground and stepping on it to put out the flame.

Forte swooned, the effects of the smoke taking over before he could press his tiny hands to his nose and mouth. His vision blurred and focused in an out. With a light gag, he felt Eral's touch. His friend gave him the message to be quiet. Nodding, Forte turned his attention back onto his beloved human. He watched closly as the man stomped out the smoking, burning white paper tube, shuddering slightly at the force behind the simple movement. One last puff reached Forte as he gasped in realization.
"That is the..Ack!" Forte spluttered and coughed, the odd smoke attacking his fragile fae lungs. He lost his balance and plummeted to the ground head first, landing in a puddle of mud under the wet grass with a sick noise of his wing breaking at the shoulder.

Eral gasped. Forte fell, and though he'd tried to help him, he was too slow. Eral watched with a heavy heart as Forte dropped like a stone to the mud below, and winced to hear the impact. He then turned his gaze to the human to watch his reaction.
Beau whipped his head back towards the trees when he heard a similar noise. Something choking, almost ...
He visibly jumped when something fell from the nearest tree to the ground. "What ...?" he murmured. Tentatively, Beau approached the mud puddle, leaning over it. His eyes widened when he saw what had fallen. He crouched low to get a better look. Humanoid ... wings ... tiny. He shook his head. Fairies weren't supposed to be real. Maybe this was just a toy that had gotten stuck in the tree. He started to reach towards the thing to pull it from the mud.
Eral, however, had been closely vigilant. When the human approached the injured Forte, Eral left his perch on the branch. He hovered for a moment, and then dove for the ground when he saw the human reach for Forte. He pulled up to land on the ground between the human and Forte. Of course, his momentum and his limp caused him to stumble before he stood up to his full eight-and-a-half inch height. "S-stay away!" he said proudly, his voice just barely skipping.
Beau flinched at Eral's sudden appearance. Then, he replied with "Where did you come from?!" His hand remained frozen in the air for the moment.

Forte weakly opened his grey eyes to the sound of Eral's voice fighting with a much larger shadow. The shadow had reached out to touch the fae before Eral's bravery halted its treck. Forte's vision and he gaped up at the impossibly large human before them. He smelled faintly of the funny smoke from the paper tube making Forte's smomach clench.
"A human...the human from my dream!" Forte cried out as he tried to sit upright. As his mind willed his right arm to move to help his left, a searing pain shot through him. His shoulder, thus his wing, was broken. A yelp streamed past his lips.
"It hurts!" The fae wailed clutching at his wound. Tears slid down his freckled cheeks as he sobbed loudly.

Beau let his hand fall back after a brief staredown with Eral. He fell to examining the two creatures with obvious interest. Their wings alone were enough to strike some awe in him.
Eral maintained his bold front. Thankfully, the human didn't seem to notice that he quivered with anticipation. He kept his eyes fixed on the huge being, glaring steadily. However, when Forte spoke up, Eral turned to him. He knelt at his friend's side, trying to assess the damage. "Of course it hurts, fool," he admonished him. "You've broken your shoulder ... it's a wonder the wing's still on." He shook his head, knowing that getting Forte home would be quite a tricky matter.
Beau watched their little drama, tilting his head. Finally, he tentatively reached out again. He wanted to make sure this was real, that there was only tobacco in that cigarette he'd just smoked. He gave Eral a light poke in the back, right between his wings. When the fairy-thing lost his balance and joined his friend in the mud, Beau figured they were probably real.
Eral whipped his glare back to the human, quickly returning to his feet. "Back off!" he snapped.

Forte reached up and tugged gently on Eral's pants to grab the agitated fae's attention. He bit back a good portion of his sobs, turning them in tiny wimpers of pain.
"Just go," Forte urged, "The human isn't going to just leave. So go tell Sylon I was lost. Unless you wish to be captured too..."
He let his hand fall back into the mud he was stuck fast in. Silent tears dribbled down his cheeks. All he had wanted to do was see a human, not cripple himself and get captured.
"H-human! P-please l-leave my friend b-be. You c-can have me! I won't s-struggle," Forte called up to the human clutching his bad arm to attepmt to dull the pain before the human lifted him from the dirt and did what it wanted to do to him.

Beau raised his eyebrows at Eral, and tilted his head. These things, these little fairy-people were getting stranger by the minute. He tried to come up with something to say. 'I come in peace' didn't seem to fit the situation. He was spared when the green-winged person ignored him again to look at his friend.
Eral turned to glance down at Forte. He frowned and shook his head. "I'm not gonna just leave you here," he hissed back in a whisper. His expression went to shock, though, as Forte addressed the human. Basically giving in to his will.
A slight smirk touched the corners of Beau's mouth. "Well, I'll at least get you out of the mud ..." He reached out again, slower this time so as not to startle one of them.
Eral felt his heart flutter with his indecision. He feared what might be the human's eventual motives. Even so, he boldly stood between the approaching hand and his prone friend. "Y-you won't touch him, human. Not while I'm here!" he said loudly, standing his ground.
Beau paused, then shrugged slightly. "I can fix that," he replied after a few seconds. He reached out much more rapidly and, instead of taking Forte, he got his grip around Eral's middle. "Gotcha," he said on instinct as he lifted the surprised fae from where he stood. He struggled mightily, legs kicking and green butterfly wings fluttering.
"Let me go!" Eral commanded, unable to hide some of his sudden panic as he was drawn closer to the human. He turned his head to watch the other hand once again reach for Forte. "Leave him alone!"
Beau clucked his tongue. "He's hurt, and you're just freaking out. Relax," he muttered. He focused then on very carefully taking Forte around the waist, avoiding touching the delicate wings. He slowly pulled him from the somewhat resilient mud, careful not to squeeze him or break one of his limbs in the process.

Forte grimaced as the uncomfortable feeling of the sticky clay-like mud released him with a wet pop. He was lifted high into the air, the human being strangly gentle in his handling.
Forte was reminded of his pain when he came to a swaying halt. Fresh salty tears rolled hotly down his flushed cheeks as he clawed the humans thick fingers as an assurence that he would not be dropped.
He sniffled and hiccuped out one dreadful sentence, "Since y-you have us b-b-both, what n-now?"

Beau hadn't really thought that far ahead. His first goal, of course, had been to help Forte out of the mud. But what did that achieve? The fae was still clearly injured. The other one seemed fine, though he didn't appear at all happy about the situation. Both of them seemed pretty apprehensive, and their nerves wore off on Beau, if just a little bit.
"Wellll ... I think for now you should come with me. To somewhere safe--"
"Somewhere safe and somewhere with you are definitely not the same thing." Eral interrupted hotly. "Release us!"
Beau shook his head slightly with a sigh. "I'm not gonna just leave your friend out here while he's hurt." he reasoned. "And I'm guessing you want to come with him to make sure he stays safe. Which he will." His sincerity showed in his face, though Eral still didn't want to buy it.
~~~~~ Corin enjoyed his morning strolls, usually. He was a morning, afternoon, and evening person. There never was time to be sleepy. So, as with any other day, he found himself walking past the park on the way to work. And there, standing off near the trees, he saw his friend, Beau. With a grin, he started toward him to say hello. Then, he saw that Beau was talking to something, something that he held in his hands. Corin stopped where he was and narrowed his eyes, trying to figure it out while still a healthy distance off. He could swear that the things in Beau's hands looked like little people.
Forte looked up with weary sobs. He shifted a tiny bit in the human's hot grasp and lay his head again the flesh of the teen's hand. His tears ran salty onto the stranger that had pulled him free of the muddy death trap.
"It will be ok, right?" He sobbed softly. "This is all my fault."
What would his friends, his adoptive brothers of sorts, say if they knew? Would they miss him? His tiny hands moved to cover his face. He was so weak. The pain began to truely set in as the fae felt lightheaded.
"I need water," Forte choaked out, his voice hoarse and unsteady.
Eral looked to his friend with concern, squirming again to try to escape Beau's grip. "Forte, are you okay? Don't pass out now!" he called encouragingly. It'd be best if they stayed conscious while in this captivity. He glared nastily at Beau, but had nothing more to say to him.
Beau's face pulled down in a frown. "Okay, I'll get you to some water soon--"
"HEY, what are you talking to?!" came a loud, energetic voice from behind. Beau and Eral both visibly flinched. Beau instinctivly drew the two fae closer to himself and turned his head, trying to conceal them behind him. Even Eral knew to stay quiet, despite his extreme discomfort and anger that the human moved him and his friend so recklessly.
"Uh, h-hi Corin ... what's up?" Beau asked weakly.
Corin rolled his eyes. "You, my friend, are a terrible liar. Are you talking to dolls or what? Was there something extra in your last cigarette? I keep tellin' ya to quit." He smirked devilishly before quickly sidestepping and pushing Beau's shoulder to turn him around. He stopped abruptly when he saw the Fae. "Dude, what are those?"
Forte trembled freely in the shadow of the new giant. Fresh tears dripped down his face as he clutched his wound. His feet flailed in the air before suddenly falling still. His face drained of colour.
"First one, then two," he weakly muttered before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he slumped against his captor's hand in a lifeless fashion.
Eral looked up to the new human warily, feeling his heartbeat quicken. He wasn't sure how much more stress he could handle. He flinched when the new one spoke loudly, nervous about how energetic this "Corin" was. Then, he looked to the side as Forte seemed to give in to all the commotion, and slumped over in their captor's other hand. Eral began to squirm and struggle, trying to break free so he could go to his friend.
Beau took a step back, drawing the fae closer to himself protectively as he did. "L-listen, Corin, these--"
"Shit, Beau, are those ... fairies? What the hell?!" Corin exclaimed, leaning forward to peer more closely at them. "Dude, one looks kinda injured."
Beau glanced down. "Oh ... I have to get him to some water, he fell and hurt his wing somehow ..." He wasn't really sure what else to say, explaining the situation was his best bet. It was all a bit new and confusing.
Corin smirked a bit, then held out a hand. "Let me see one, Beau!" he insisted.
Beau was hesitant. Eral didn't let him answer, because he interrupted hotly, "You see us, and that's more than should happen!" He pounded his fist ineffectively on Beau's hand. "Let us go!" he added exasperatedly.
Beau frowned. "I gotta help your friend, it's not my fault he's hurt but I'm gonna help."
Corin chuckled. "Well, if you're gonna help the hurt one, let me have the loudmouthed one there. He doesn't need help, right? I just want to hold him for a bit..."
Beau frowned. "Corin, no! He's freaked out already, can't you tell? I think they should stay together." He turned to go, keeping a steady, stern gaze on his over-energetic friend. "See you around. Don't tell anyone, okay?"
Corin frowned as his friend turned to go. "Yeah ... fine. I won't tell anyone."
~~~~~ Corin stayed true to his word. He didn't tell anyone about what he saw in the park. But he never had to promise not to follow Beau home. He kept a good distance from him, so he wouldn't know. Then, he waited near the front fence, hidden by a low tree, wondering what to do next. He contemplated going in to get ahold of one of those fairy-things himself, but that seemed a bit underhanded. He watched the house as he muddled over what to do. ~~~~~ Beau rushed into his house, going to the kitchen. Once there, he made sure the windows were closed ... he didn't want the green-winged fae to fly off in a frenzy and leave his friend behind. Not that Eral would have.
He set Eral down on a counter and then gently laid Forte on the countertop next to him. Eral waited for the human's hands to retreat before kneeling at his friend's side, checking the injury. "Forte," he whispered. "Forte, are you okay?"
Beau left the fae for a brief moment to find a way to give them water. He'd have to find out how to help the injury after that. He got a shot glass and a bottle cap. He filled the glass, and returned to the counter with the items. "Um ... you can give him some water with this ..." he set the glass next to Forte's prone body, and held the cap out for Eral to take.
Eral glared at the human upon his return, but grudgingly took the cap. He filled it with some water, and then knelt by Forte again. "Wake up, you crazy fool," he said quietly. "Take a drink."

"I have to get Sylon. He will know what to do!" the small figure hiding on the lamppost muttered to himself again and again. His red hair hung long in his face and short in the back and bright monarch wings shivered against his back. He watched the giant take his brother and Eral into his hands with a terrified gasp. Reeling slightly, he did not fail to notice the other human coming onto the trio fast. His small heart raced and colour seemed to drain from his features. His blue eyes darted between one human and the other until the space between them was destroyed. The human with his friends didn't seem too thrilled about the other one. As he quickly retreated, Mezzo was torn. Should he go to Sylon or follow the human like he so often did with Forte and Eral? Taking the chance, he flung himself from the cold metal lamppost and took to the sky, his decent sized wings flapping hard to keep him airborne. He made it a point not to take the same path as the other human, though he had little to fear. His brown clothing and monarch wings made him seem like a butterfly more than the fae he was. Slamming into a clear force feild, he slid onto the ledge of the looking box. (window) He was stunned and reeling from the shock as the blinds were pulled shut so he couldn't see a thing. Cursing, he pressed himself against the glass ignoring the world around him to make sure his brother was safe.
-------------------
Water. There was water running down his face. All motion seemed to have stopped. With a thick groan, Forte opened his grey eyes to see Eral looming over him.
"Eral, I had this weird dream. We were touched by a human and we lived! funny right? Damn, what is going on with my... oh gods." He flared his one good wing in fear as he bolted upright. The human was not far away, back turned doing something. They seemed to be in his dwelling, the sky no longer above Forte's aching wings.
"What have I done?" he panted in fear clutching at Eral's strong shoulders, "I got us captured! I broke the rules Sylon set up to keep us safe! I've destroyed us! All for a dream!" More tears ran hot down his cheeks as he slumped to the tabletop in dispair.
