(This rp will be going on as Kim and I's rp ^^ ) It has been maybe three weeks ever since the world had fallen apart, and it's been two days since Ataru had met the strange American girl.
Ataru was a Japanese 16 year old. For the last few weeks, he has been living the life of a Changed with Electricity powers. Which in his opinion, was pretty damn cool. Though, a few days back, he saved a girl from a gang of Burnouts. He didn't know why he saved her, but he just sort of did it.
Tonight, they were resting inside Ataru's home, before he had Changed. It was a large mostly black room, with mostly band posters on the walls and a small tv next to the door. Of course, the lights and other things that require electricity worked, but that was only because of Ataru's presence alone.
The small Changed Boy sat on top of a table, and shook his head in a annoyed kind of fashion. "I'm so goddamn bored..." He mumbled, standing himself up and then turning towards a normal girl who sat right beside him. "You know, you kind of owe me for saving your ass." The Changed Asian boy chuckled slightly. "Sooooooo, anyway, you expect to leave tonight? This part of Tokyo is kind of getting lots o' Burnouts. Then again, more Burnouts means more practice for my lighting bolt." He smirked. "Though, I bet you don't even want to be in Japan, huh? You want to be back in America probably."

The dark walls hardly comforted Meave, but it was the best shelter she'd had since the world had ended. It still struck her odd, thinking about it casually. The world was over, and she was sitting in a room with a six or seven inch tall boy with electricity Powers. It was a fact of life, nothing alarming.
Sixteen year-old Meave remained poised in her spot, still not used to being with a total stranger. Her shotgun was in the corner of the room. After everything had fallen apart, she had "borrowed" it from a local gun shop when the Burnouts came pouring in. One group had been too much for her though, snatching her shotgun and throwing it to the side. Then, out of nowhere, some guy with electric Powers came out and saved her for no apparent reason. She was grateful, of course, but she wasn't used to being the damsel in distress.
"If you're so bored, then go out and practice," Meave said stiffly. She wasn't mad at him -- she was mad at the entire situation. Everything had gone wrong at the exact same moment. Being separated from her friend, Adena, was possibly the worst scenario come true. For all Meave knew, Adena could have been dead. Still, it wasn't fair to take it out on Ataru. She did it anyway. "I didn't ask you to save me. I had everything under control," Meave lied.
"And I don't know what I'm doing tonight." Meave stood up and strode to the window to look out at the once-beautiful city of Tokyo. Her eyes flicked over to the shotgun, her only weapon against the murderous outside world. "I could go out look for Adena, I suppose. It's not like she'd magically appear here. And I need to find her."
She didn't answer Ataru's question about America. What if this wasn't the end of the world? What if it had only been the end of Tokyo? Maybe her family and friends were sitting at home, safe. Her sensible mind, though, told her this was the end of everything. No rescues had come to Tokyo. The world has suffered the same horrible fate as where Meave was.

Ataru only smirked at Meave, he loved the girl's attitude, it reminded him of a German girl he used to know. "Hmmph, well, maybe I will go out and practice my electricity I guess." He chuckled under his breath, looking back at the normal girl with a delightful grin. "Though, to be perfectly honest.... Why would I want to leave you out here? All alone, hmm?" He jumped off of his table, not feeling any pain as he landed onto the black carpet.
"Oh yeah fucking right." Ataru cussed, beginning to walk closer and closer to the normal girl. "Though, I have to admit, I did watch you before I came out, and you put on a pretty damn good fight, right until they got your gun. You even had some decent aim.
Ataru sighed at the mention of Meave's friend, Adena. He had heard so much about her, after only three days. "Maybe she's dead, maybe she's not. " Ataru said, with some sarcasm. In truth, he did also feel bad for someone he knew he'll probably never see again. His brother. Another Changed boy who ran away after Ataru had a major meltdown the day the both of them changed.. "Maybe she became like me, or maybe she's a burnout. Who knows?" He shrugged.
"Maybe I should go out with you, and try to find her. Would be fun, and probably will kill my boredom." He shrugged. "Besides, Burnouts are always hiding at night, you'd need the help from a big strong man like myself." He joked.

The idea of going out and about made Meave cringe a little after the Burnout attack, but she wasn't about to let Ataru see it. Still, her boredom of being cooped up inside a room -- even with electricity -- was giving her a serious case of cabin fever. Adena might have been out there somewhere, alone and confused -- Burnout or Changed. Meave wondered what she would do if Adena became an Elixir addict. She pushed that horrible thought away.
"I can take care of myself," Meave replied coolly. "That time with the Burnouts was just . . . and unfortunate incident, and it won't happen again." Like Ataru had said, after all, Meave did have good aim when it went down to shooting things, even crazy fast things like Burnouts.
The thought of Adena being dead was even worse than imagining a Burnout version of her. What were the chances that Adena was alive among the mllions dead? The chances were beyond hope, but Adena was a tough girl, Meave knew it.
"How about this?" Meave said cunningly, walking over to her gun and picking up. "We both go out into the streets to look for Adena, and if we run into any Burnouts, you can practice your electric bolts, and I can practice my long distance shooting. Deal?" Meave smirked as she stroked the barrel of the gun like it was something precious. "And we'll just see who's protecting who."

Ataru rolled his perfect brown eyes softly. "it's a goddamn deal." He flicked his fingers softly, and before the normal knew it, all of the power inside the house, just stopped suddenly. The lights flickered for a few moments before simply shutting off completely."Well, I turned off the electricity, so let's get the hell out of this place, you got it?" He told her, walking towards the front door of the room.
Suddenly, a obstacle came to Ataru. A shut door. "Damn it, damn it, damn it.." He muttered angrily. If there's one thing Ataru hated about being Changed, it was being a little taller then seven inches. He was too tall to sneak under the door, but too small to open it. He was helpless when it came to things like this. "Meave." He said plainly, sounding annoyed. "Open the door, please." ~~~~~~~ Cuddling against a large stuffed animal inside a abandoned Japanese Toy Store, the young Changed boy, Susumu was hugging the gigantic stuffed kitty. "Love you, love you, love you..." He mumbled, nuzzling his head against the stuffed Kitty. Susumu had ran far away from his brother Ataru, and basically decided to make himself a home inside a abandoned toy store. After all, he wanted to always be happy, and the brown haired changed boy was not going to let the world ending ruin his life completely.

It was hard to not flinch when all the lights suddenly went out. Meave gripped the shotgun, holding it close to her chest for security. She knew that at least with her gun and Ataru's electricity, the Burnouts wouldn't be too much trouble. Meave just hoped that Adena wasn't one of the Burnouts that attacked. There were a million things that could go wrong, but taking chances was something they needed to do if they wanted to survive.
A wide smirk lit up Meave's face as she walked toward the door. "Oh, what? The 'big, strong man' needs a lady to open the door for him?" It was almost too easy to tease Ataru, especially after he already had a big head about saving her. Even so, Meave opened the door and walked outside, preparing to aim her gun if she needed to.
"Let's go, then," Meave sighed, stepping out into the streets of the ruined city of Tokyo.
~
Why was this happening? That was the only question that constantly ran through Adena's mind. Why here? Why now? She probably should have been looking for shelter or food, but instead, she wandered the streets, burning anything that moved. It hadn't taken long to figure out her Power, especially after she was attacked by a Burnout once. Adena had left him to smolder weeks ago.
Things couldn't be any worse. Adena had lost Meave, who was most likely dead, considering the rest of the city. Strangely, Adena hadn't been hungry for about a week, so she didn't look for food anymore. Shelter was something that could have been useful, but she felt more like wallowing in her own self pity and frustration.
Every once in a while, all of Adena's worries would hit her at once, making her furious. This was one of those times. She threw her head back and let out a long, pained shriek. Her Power out of control, she suddenly fired at a nearby, abandoned car. The vehicle exploded, despite not being gas-powered, but solar-powered instead. Adena's fire was enough to fry anything.

Ataru angrily stared at Meave. "If the Change didn't shrink and only gave powers, I would have loved that. " The only thing that had bothered Ataru about being Changed was of course, the size. He never liked feeling small or helpless to anyone. And even with his lighting powers that can burn anyone to crisp in mere seconds, he still needed help with opening doors, or really anything that requires basic human height.
When the door was opened by Mesve, Ataru looked at the once beautiful city of Tokyo, a big and lively place with millions of people, being reduced to a battle zone between Burnouts, Changed, and Normals. He gave the new city a name, and that was Murder City. He called it this for one simple reason. "There is so much death in this single city every single day. And dozens of Changed, Burnouts, and normals die in amazing numbers, every day. " Ataru spoke plainly., before jumping down the stairs from his apartment building.
Ataru knew there was more then one Murder City in the world, Tokyo wasn't the only city where chaos like this happened, probably in the world's other great cities, New York City, Paris, London.. There are countless deaths, every day, every moment. "Just remember Meave." He looked at the girl as she started to walk down the stairs. "Don't let your guard down at all, I don't wanna have to waste my time saving your ass again." He chuckled slightly, he always had time for a snarky comment.
~~~~ It was sudden, the sound of metal exploding into a million little pieces. "Eep!" Susumu jumped up, and fell off of the stuffed animal, hitting the cold pavement of the abandoned store pretty hard, but with no pain. "Gah.. Okay Susumu, theres maybe something going on, I have to defend, I have to defend.." He opened his hand, and a small drop of water was floating right above it. His power was pretty simple, water. It worked similarly to a Fire Power he had seen before, only it isn't as strong.(Though, he can kill fire with it.)
He used his Changed speed to rush to the exit of the store, and then sneak out from the slightly opened glass doors. There he looked out the cold streets of an shopping center of Tokyo. He turned his head around a few times, not noticing anything that moved. "Maybe it went away... I guess that's good, yeah.
Though Meave had only been the city for a few days before the end of the world, she deep sorrow as she looked out at the ruined streets. It looked as if everyone had abandoned the city because the buildings were somewhat intact, only suffering from recent battles of Normals vs. Changed vs. Burnouts. Meave faintly wondered how much of the damage came from Ataru's lightning bolts.
Murder City. Such a horribly perfect name for such a horrible place. No matter what anyone said, no matter whether or not it was just self-defense, everyone was forced to be downgraded to a murderer. If they wanted to survive, that is.
"Oh, really?" Meave said as she glared down at Ataru. A smirk lit up her face after she thought for a moment. "Perhaps you'll soon realize that I'm not a complete waste of your time." Clutching her gun she pointed to the entrance of a nearby alley. Shadows in the moonlight revealed quick movements. Burnouts. "I'll bet I can take down more Burnouts than you," Meave chuckled as she double-checked the shotgun was fully loaded. She kept both eyes open and aimed.
"Here they come."
~
Gulping deep breaths of air, Adena's eyes widely looked around the streets. The exploded car lay all around her, the biggest chunk of it was nearly as small as her. She nearly grinned, realizing how catastrophic emotions went a long way when it came to using her Power. Usually, the Burnouts would have come pouring in at a sound like that, but it seemed there weren't any around at the moment.
Suddenly, Adena heard slight noise that made her crouch defensively. Her improved hearing strained for any sign of someone approaching. She could see movement in a nearby store. From the size, it was definitely a Changed. Prowling to the wall of the building, she sprang up and started climbing the door. Eventually, a boy came out. He didn't even think to look up, only searching the streets.
Now that she thought of it, Adena noticed the building was a toy store, and it seemed to be the least attacked building in the shopping center. With a cunning smile, she contemplated how to get rid of the Changed boy and claim the place for herself. Silent as a predator, she awaited for him to return into the store.
Ataru started to flick his fingers, after the fourth time, a spark appeared, and soon his hands had a electric glow around him, sparks flying out at random times. "Heh... I'm getting myself warmed up." He gave a low chuckle, looking at the alleyway which was going to become very bloodily thanks to Ataru's lighting bolts, and Meave's bullets. "We'll see who's best, the 7 and a half inch teenage boy with lighting bolts, or the normal teenage girl with a pistol."
He cracked his fingers together, before using his improved speed to run towards the alleyway. And just like that, he jumped up a incredible five feet in the air, and began attacking. "what's up, bitches?!" He yelled, beginning his sudden rampage of lighting bolts onto the Burnouts.
First, he let out four different attacks onto the Burnouts, a delightful smirk appeared on his face as the first bolt successfully hit a male burnout in the crotch, shocking him in his privates. "Heh, heh.." The second and third lighting bolts hit two Burnouts in their stomachs and then shocked them to death. Not a really fun death like the first one, but Ataru still kept his smug smirk. The fourth bolt however, was swiftly dodged by the burnout it was meant to hit, and the bolt crashed into a building, making a big explosion that killed anyone close by it. ___ Susumu swiftly examined the streets, looking to see if anything or anyone was there. All he noticed were a bunch of small machine parts at the end of the street. "Okay, no one is here..." He softly told himself, turning back towards the toy store where he stayed for the past three weeks. As he walked back in, he noticed a small tear on the sleeve of his sweater he sewed from parts from pieces of his sweater he wore before he changed. "Oh great.." He sighed.
Susumu really didn't want to kill anyone, and thankfully, he hadn't encountered anyone else, not even Burnouts, other Changed, or Normals. Which is good, seeing as how he didn't really believe his water power could defend him from anything.
Without wasting a single second, Meave pointed and shot at the Burnouts that poured out of the alleyways. Rolling her eyes at Ataru's comments, she muttered, "May that best species win." Every few moments, she reloaded at a rapid pace, trying to keep up with her Changed companion. The Burnouts were fierce, but they were no match for a shotgun and lightning.
Meave tried not to stare in amazement at Ataru's incredible speed and abilities. She put up her gun again, ready to shoot a Burnout near Ataru. A lightning bolt suddenly shot at it before Meave could even fire. When the Burnout dodged the lightning attack, she gasped. The explosion was strong enough to make her stumble slightly.
Eyes wide, Meave stared at Ataru, completely surprised. Shaking her head, she quickly focused again. "Luck! All luck!" Meave shouted to the Changed boy, but had a playful tone in her voice. She readied the gun and began shooting again. The sooner the Burnouts were gone, the sooner she could go out looking more directly for Adena.
~~~
"Stupid boy," Adena thought, rolling her eyes. The Changed boy walked right back into the toy store without even noticing her on top of the glass doors. Silently, she landed on the ground in front of the entrance when she thought it was safe enough. Thinking a territorial animal, Adena thought, "He must be in charge of this place, so if I defeat him, it'll be mine!" She knew deep down it was wrong, and she hadn't really gone that crazy, but times were tough.
Creeping inside the toy store, Adena saw the Changed boy with his back turned to her. She contemplated what kind of Power he had, but it was probably no match for her fire. Finally deciding to make her move, Adena screamed out in a battle cry. She rushed forward to the boy, fire beginning to glow on her palms.

Ataru only chuckled at Meave, continuing his insane onslaught of burnout shooting. He probably had already killed almost a hundred already, and he wasn't stopping until they were all dead. Again, he shot out constant lighting bolts that shocked the burnouts to crisp. "You know Meave..." Ataru chuckled, not breaking a sweat at all. "I think I'm winning.."
After a long while after constantly shooting lightening bolts at the onslaught of burnouts, they stopped coming. "Heh." Ataru smirked, examining the massive amount of dead bodies that were either shocked to death, or shot by Meave's handgun. Ataru turned towards Meave, and looked up at the normal girl with a smuggy smile. "I don't think we have enough time to do a body count but... I think I killed way more then you."
Right behind Ataru, one of the fallen burnouts who was hit by one of Meave's bullets started to slowly move it's left arm towards the Changed Boy, and Ataru was too caught up in his gloating to even notice the impending danger he could easily stop.
~~~ Susumu yelped, a sudden horrible sound smashed his ears, it was so unexpected for the sensitive Changed boy, with his Changed reflexes, he saw a Changed Girl charging right at him, she had a reddish and orange glow on her hands. Without thinking, Susumu shut his eyes and pulled his right arm in front of the Changed Girl, and suddenly, a huge gush of water flew out from Susumu's hand, and completely drenched the girl with his water. He didn't know if this would really do anything, most possibly it would make the girl pissed and even more dangerous, but it was all he could do.
Arms getting tired, Meave tried to keep her gun steady. Still, her aim only faltered slightly. She shook herself to concentrate when she noticed the bullet holes weren't directly in the middle of the Burnouts' foreheads. For what seemed to be more than a little while, the Burnout flood finally ended.
Lowering the gun, Meave let out a shaky breath, taking a break while staying on full alert. She was immediately distracted by Ataru, though. She scowled at his smile, smoldering on the inside, wishing she had gotten a count during the slaughter.
Meave about to make a smart retort, but her eyes suddenly widened when she noticed movement behind Ataru. It had been on the few that hadn't gotten a direct bullet to the forehead. Slowly, she raised the gun again, pointing it in the Burnout's direction. "Don't. Move," Meave whispered.
The gunshot rang out through the alley, and it was Meave's turn to smile smugly. "I think I win," she said coolly, lowering the gun again. "Now, if we're all done here, can we go on to saving my Adena?"
~~~
Adena was going to burn him to a crisp. The firey heat in her palms was nothing compared to the excitement going on her emotions. Before she could take more than a few long strides, she was drenched in what seemed to be ordinary water.
After a few paused moments, Adena let out a long, blood-curdling shriek. Anger coursing through her veins, she prepared herself again to attack the Changed boy. Nothing came out of her palms, though. Gasping in surprise, she tried again . . . and again. No fire was coming out of her body. Not only that, but she felt incredibly weak. She didn't feel like she even had the strength to punch the Changed boy in the face for what he did.
Instead, Adena slowly raised her head, eyes burning with fury. "You -- made -- my -- fire -- go -- out." Her words came out through gritted teeth. She wanted to strangle the life out of him. What if her Power was permanently gone? Her weak knees gave in and she sank to the ground, not losing her potent glare.

Ataru didn't know of the danger that was right behind him, he was of course, far too busy gloating in his pride. He suddenly flinched when Meave shot the bullet, bringing a loud ringing sound that lasted for several seconds. "God damn it, what the hell was that fo-" Ataru turned his body, and slightly jumped in surprise when his little eyes saw the burnout, being shot at for the second time because it hadn't died.
"Psst, you really think that thing would have hurt me?" He smirked, with a slight bit of a nervous tone. "Bah, you didn't have to shoot it, if it knew anything, once it got up, it would run the hell away from your's truly!" Ataru really was trying not to seem bested by a normal, much less a female one. "Whatever, let's get looking for your friend or something.." He rolled his eyes. "I really doubt you'll see her though, we don't even know what the hell she became... Or even if she's alive!"
------- Susumu breathed in and out heavily, the excitement of the moment had really worn him out decently. Even if all he did was shoot out a sudden gush of water, it was still pretty crazy for a boy who was never very athletic.
He jumped back when the changed girl tried to use her fire power again, but it seems her fire was pretty much gone thanks to his water. He had a thought suddenly, can elemental powers be weak against each other?
His silly thoughts ended when he saw the girl faintly growl at him with a terribly pissed off look on her face. Susumu started to shiver near uncontrollably, he sighed and put his head down. "I... I'm sorry..." He sighed. "Yo-You just really, really scared me.. I kind of needed to... To do that to you.." His voice came out timid, and frightened, even if the changed girl couldn't do anything to him at the moment.

Meave shot a glare at Ataru, furious that he was practically getting mad at her for saving him. She flipped her hair over her shoulder haughtily. His ego was really beginning to drive her on edge. The only thing that kept her from leaving was the fact that they made a good team (as much as she hated to admit.)
"I'm pretty sure we're even now," Meave said coolly, a wide smirk on her face as she wiped the anger away. After all, she had been in denial when he had saved her a few days ago. "Don't remind me," she grumbled as the fear of Adena's death began to make her nervous again. The thought of her friend becoming a monster of some sort made her shudder.
"Let's get going then," Meave sighed, slinging the gun over her back. "The sooner we find out what happened to her, the better. You'll be rid of me, after all, if we find her." She waited to follow Ataru. He knew the city much better than she did, of course.
~~~
Fury burned through Adena's veins, but she was much too weak to do anything about it. Unable to move from exhaustion, she continued glaring at the boy. What was he waiting for? She was down, and he was standing there like an idiot instead of finishing her off. He was stammering as if she could even attack him. Apologizing, even.
Growing impatient, Adena growled, "What are you waiting for? Just do it. Kill me." That was what she would do, if she was attacked by someone and they suddenly became Powerless to defend themselves. Surely, the boy wasn't stupid enough to let her live.
"Whatever, I guess after you find your friend, we'll be parting ways finally, and I don't have to deal with anyone ever again." Ataru wasn't much of a people's person, most people would consider him to be some kind of Loner. Did he ever have many friends? A few, but they were probably either dead, or burnouts... Or possibly both.
Ataru and Meave were in the middle of a small intersection. There were of course, three different ways to go. "Alright Meave. I guess we gotta decide where to go. Since I know so much about this Place, I'll tell ya about them all." He jumped up onto a nearby green bench, and sat himself right at the edge of it.
"Over at the right, there's the big city part of Tokyo, with huge tv screens and other shit that probably doesn't work any more." He sighed slightly. "In the center, we have a smaller part of Tokyo, with a small factory where they used to make Foodstuffs with elixir sprinkled onto it. If Adena became a burnout, she's obviously there."
Finally, We have the Shopping Center at the left. It's pretty much where a bunch of small businesses used to operate their stores at. Nothing all that exciting at all. Maybe it's a good hiding place, I'm not sure at all, I never really went there unless if I had to take my little bro there to get him a toy." Ataru shrugged. "Well Meave, where do you think we should go? Hmm?" He asked in a slightly snarky tone as he jumped down from the bench, and stared up at the normal girl.
------ Susumu looked at Adena with a confused face, why did she want him to kill him? It didn't make any sort of sense to the young changed boy. "Why do you want me to hurt you?" He asked her. "I mean.. I didn't mean to take away your power, it was a accident.. You just scared me.. It's okay, really. It's my fault."
"Do you need any water?" He asked her. "I can get you some really good drinking water, my power is really good for stuff like that.. Oh, are you also hungry? I can get you a candy if you want me to.. Okay? "
Meave felt a pang of hurt when Ataru spoke as if she was such a burden. She knew where he was coming from though, with wanting to be alone. That didn't stop her from adopting a stony expression as she said bitterly, "Great, then let's get started right away, so you can go back to sitting around alone."
As they approached the intersection, Meave weighed the options carefully. She immediately shied away from the factory. If Adena was a Burnout, she didn't want to be the one to kill her, even if that was a bit sentimental since she couldn't do anything to save her. The city part of Tokyo didn't seem very likely, considering Adena would be hiding, like the survivalist she was. She would want plenty of options, and the Shopping Center seemed most probable.
Without saying anything, Meave flipped her hair haughtily and started walking down street to the Shopping Center, not bothering to wait for Ataru. She was still extremely pissed about his attitude, and she knew he could catch up with her with his speed.
~~~
Adena blinked, astounded. He really was innocent, or just an idiot. Either way, she still glared at him cautiously, too tired to even stand. She didn't reply to his rambling, deciding not to push it anymore. If she wasn't going to die, she might as well still attempt to be her usual self.
"I don't think I need anymore water," Adena snapped sharply, shaking her wet hair out. "Bah! I don't care what you do," she finally said, managing to stand up on wobbly legs. In a huff, she walked off to the nearest soft surface to rest -- a stuffed toy dog with its tongue hanging out. "What are you even doing here all alone, kid?" she called out, unaware that most families had been torn apart by the Static Age. After all, her family didn't live in Japan.

Ataru grumpily looked over at Meave as she started to walk towards the shopping center. "What? Leave without me?" He said with a small hint of sarcasm in his voice. He didn't really care anyway, he just sprinted towards her with his incredible speed. "You know, you normals are so slow. Which is a little surprising, considering how I'm 7 inches tall, and your over 5 or so feet bigger then me." He said, smirking slightly.
As they made it into the shopping center, the entire area was nearly completely dark, which made navigating kind of a pain. Ataru saw this as a way to show off his powers again, he snapped his little fingers, and a small electric spark emitted from his hands. He shot out very small bolts towards buildings as they continued to walk, making the lights inside of the buildings to suddenly flash on. "So, you do know this place is quite large, right? I think to someone your size, it's like 3 miles long. Pretty crazy, huh?" Ataru smirked. "Well, I guess we'll be spending a lot of time looking inside all of these stores for a girl who's probably dead."
~~ Susumu was becoming more and more frightened in front of the Changed Girl, she was being incredibly mean to him, even though he didn't do a single thing to her yet.. Okay, besides for making her power go away and getting her wet. But he didn't mean to do that!
"Uh, well...." Susumu gulped slightly, he looked at the girl resting on the stuffed puppy with a slight frown. "My family didn't survive the Change besides for my brother.. And my brother is really scary now! He's Changed and he has really creepy lighting powers and lots of things blow up when he uses them! It's so scary.. That's why I ran away.. Please don't be mad at me.."
Susumu suddenly noticed something about the girl, she looked different from most people from Japan. "Uh, by the way.. You don't look Japanese.. Your not from here, are you?"

Meave did her best to ignore Ataru's voice. She was becoming less and less fond of him, whether he had saved her life or not. It was hard not to retort, especially since he was being so rude. Was he always like this, or was she just receiving some sort of special treatment? But after he lit up that small section of the center, she finally snapped when he mentioned the all-too probable fact that Adena was dead . . . again.
"You know what?" Meave said coldly. She had enough of is ego-induced, full-of-himself voice. "Shut up. Just shut up. If you don't wanna help me, then just go crawl back into your apartment! I don't need your help anymore, so why bother?!" Still fuming, she continued walking down the street, not caring if Ataru would stay or leave. Her eyes were filled with tears from imagining all the possible way Adena, her last friend around, could be dead.
~~~
Adena felt little to no empathy for the kid's explanation. Why should she care if his family was gone? Her family was probably lining the gutters back home, and her best friend, Meave, quite possibly had stopped breathing days ago. Adena suddenly felt a tinge of uncertainty. Why had she asked him about his family in the first place? Why would she care?
Shaking more water from her hair, Adena continued lying down, her head spun with emotions she hadn't felt in weeks. Perhaps she wanted to remotely feel empathy because no one had been around to feel for. Pushing away those feelings, she answered the boy.
"No, I'm not from around here," she said, her voice suddenly less harsh. "I was with my friend, traveling the world when this happened. I don't know where she is, or if she's even . . . alive." She felt the threat of tears in the back of her eyes. "I've been looking for her for days, but I just can't --" Adena stopped abruptly. Why in the world was she revealing so much to a stranger? She fell silent again, keen on not letting out so much again.
Ataru had not expected that at all, to be suddenly yelled at in such a pissed off mood. Then again, this used to always happen to Ataru before he changed. He always had a very cocky attitude that seemed to annoy everyone around him. And more often then not, people would get so annoyed with his jackassy attitude and completely criticize him for it. He was used to this sort of thing, but why did he care so much right now?
It was really bizarre, Ataru just suddenly felt depressed because of what Meave said. He never felt this way when people had been pissed at him, so why now? It.. It just made Ataru feel a little hurt inside." Fine." He whispered. "I don't need you, you dumbass." He cussed once more, before beginning to walk away slowly from Meave. Yet, only a few seconds later, he turned around, and started to follow Meave again. As he did so, he thought to himself "Why am I doing this? She's no one to me, why should I care about her dead friend? Why can't I stay away from her?!" ~~~ Susumu listened to Adena's explanation carefully. He was very saddened by this, what could be worst then the world suddenly coming to a end, and being separated from both your friend and family? It made Susumu feel incredibly bad for the Changed Girl, even if she only minutes ago was going to kill him. "Oh my... That is terrible.." He said, walking closer to the girl laying by the plush toy, and looking up at her with very depressed eyes.
"Maybe she's alive." Susumu said, unsure if this would make her feel better or not. "She could be out there, looking for you. Maybe she stayed normal, or maybe she was shrunken like the both of us. But... But, you can't give up. I could help you look for her.. I know my ways around this city, I've lived here for my entire life."
Susumu sighed. "But, maybe I can't help you.. I'm just a kid.. That's what my brother always told me.. "
Still smoldering with annoyance and bitterness, Meave scanned the area around her as she walked. She just couldn't get over the fact that she suddenly felt extremely alone without Ataru, as much as a jackass as he was. Shaking her head, she realized that only gave her more reason to find Adena. It was getting extremely tiresome, being alone. Her mood darkened again, thinking about all the times Ataru had pointed out that Adena was most likely dead, which meant she was truly in solitude in a foreign place.
The urge to call out for Adena was strong, but she knew it would only draw unwanted attention, mostly likely from Burnouts. She clutched her gun tighter for a sense of protection. Staying silent, Meave scanned her perimeter again and froze when she saw a small figure following from behind. She scowled when she recognized her pursuer, yet felt confused all the same. It was surprising Ataru hadn't already put a mile between them.
Turning back her attention to the street, Meave tried to hide her curiosity at his sudden appearance. Without looking back at him, she asked as bitterly as she could, "What do you want?"
~~~
"Yeah, our lives suck," Adena said, rolling her eyes. But when Susumu pointed out that Meave could possibly be out there as well, perhaps searching as well, she felt a slight glimmer of hope. Nothing could have killed Meave so easily. She was a strategist, unlike Adena who simply threw caution to the wind with her devil-may-care attitude. If Adena could have survived, so could Meave.
"Maybe . . ." she sighed, turning over on the plush toy to look at the boy. "Wait. If your brother -- the one with lightning Power -- is still alive . . . why are you here all alone?" The boy still had a family member alive and well! Adena was extremely bewildered on why anyone would be alone when they still had someone to turn to, especially a family member.
