Ataru carefully followed from behind, he stayed very quiet, just so she wouldn't find him, and bark at him for following her like some sort of stalker who can't leave someone they hate alone. Though, the question that Ataru kept on asking himself was still unanswered. Why was he following this stupid American girl? Why did he feel the need to protect her, even if she claimed she was perfectly able to do anything herself?
Ataru froze when he realized Meave finally figured out that she was being followed by him. Cussing silently to himself, he awaited for Meave's reaction to seeing him. She looked pissed, but also confused, just like he was. "Well, I don't know why the hell I can't leave you." He told her after she turned away from him. His voice didn't have the usual snarky, smuggy, or annoying tone. Ataru sounded quite honest.
"Let's go look for you friend. Unless if you don't want me, then I'll leave."
~~~ Susumu felt his heart beat faster at the question Adena asked, it hurt him just to think about his brother, the brother who had always been a complete bully to him his entire life. "Ataru, my brother is...is sort of someone I don't want to be with." He admitted. "See, he's always been a complete jerk to me my entire life. He's a bully who's always been horribly negative for his entire life! He acts so cold and cranky to anyone! "
"And now that he's Changed and has a pretty scary power, he's even worst! When we finally Changed, he went completely berserk! He started shooting lighting bolts everywhere! I was so scared, I ran away from him, and I just never want to see him again.." Susumu started to whimper after he finished telling Adena why he doesn't like his brother. "I'm sorry.. But, being reminded of him makes me really scared..." He started to cry softly, little tears falling down his cheeks. "I'm sorry.." He sniffed up a few of his tears, and looked up at Adena. "I'm really emotional when talking about him.."
Meave froze her in search when she heard the odd tone of Ataru's voice. Even after only knowing him for a short time, she could tell this wasn't a normal way for him to speak. Closing her eyes wearily, she contemplated what to do. His sudden change of attitude confused her, though she was still very angry.
Pinching the bridge of her nose and shaking her head, Meave was about to tell him to get lost. She didn't need or even want him around. All she wanted was to be alone to find her friend without snappy remarks from some overconfident Changed . . . or did she? Ataru did provide some form of company during a tedious situation, and more than that, since they obviously made a good team when it came to fighting Burnouts.
Finally, Meave decided. "Help me if you want . . . but don't expect me to deal with anymore of that crap you pulled before." Without another word, she took off again cautiously, keeping an eye out for Burnouts. Except this time, she couldn't figure out the warm feeling inside now that she didn't feel so alone.
~~~
Adena snorted once in laughter when she listened to Susumu's description of his brother. "Sounds like my kind of guy," she mumbled softly to herself. But then, Susumu went on to describe how Ataru was now that he had his Power. She nearly felt sorry for the boy. He had the worst kind of loneliness: the kind where you have someone to be with, but you don't want to.
"Maybe he he couldn't control his Power at first. I certainly couldn't," Adena said softly, unable to stop the sorrow from creeping into her voice. She stopped in her tracks, realizing she had let too much out again. She made a noise that was between a sigh and a scoff. "Haven't you ever felt angry since you've been Changed? Maybe that was what was going on with your brother." Hesitantly, she whispered, "After I Changed, I did nothing but burn things for a few days. It was something . . . something I couldn't control. I didn't fee like me. Maybe it's the same with him."

"Alright then." Ataru nodded to Meave, he ran up right beside her, and looked up at her in a curious gaze. He didn't know what the hell was wrong with him right now, why did he feel the need to protect someone who was annoyed and angry at him? He doesn't know, or really understand why.
"You know Meave." Ataru smirked. "If you do find your friend, have you figured out somewhere for you and her to stay at? After all, Murder City isn't really full of safe resting places.. How about you cans your friend consider staying with me at my Apartment like you have for the past few weeks?" He flinched when he finished saying that. Didn't he want her to leave just minutes ago? What the hell was up with him, asking the girl who hates him to stay at his apartment? ~~~~
On top of a large building in the shopping center was a small figure, sitting right on the edge of the building. He looked down at everything below him, with a bored expression on his face. "Oh, whatever happened to the burnouts that came here?" He sighed. "I had fun killing them, and now their gone tonight?" He said sorrowfully. Tyler was his name, a rather insane sort of Changed Boy who was once a computer geek who loved to mess with other people online out of boredom. Now, he was a Changed Boy with electricity powers who loves to kill people out of boredom.
Looking down, he noticed a small figure, quite possibly a changed, and a normal sized figure. Giggling, he saw this as a opportunity to cure his boredom. "Well then. Hee Hee Hee, looks like I'm going to have fun after all then." Tyler giggled, blushing slightly as he shot out of his fingertips a few lighting bolts, and proceeded to watch what will happen next. ~~~~
Susumu shook his head slightly. "Well.. Yeah, maybe that is what happened. He's always been grumpy, but it isn't like him to try to hurt me." Susumu sighed slightly, creating a small ball of water in his hand, and gazing at it curiously. "Maybe he's calmed himself now, and maybe he's trying to find me now.." Susumu grew a small smile. "Maybe if he finds me, I can leave this place, and go to where he's staying now! That would be great!" He said with a childish smile.

The warm feeling didn't go away as Ataru followed beside Meave, much to her chagrin. A few moments ago, she was ready to tell him to take a hike, and now they were suddenly on the same side again? Why did he even care whether or not she found Adena? After all, he had been quick to remind her that Adena would probably not be found at all.
As Ataru spoke, she was about to respond that she and Adena would find a place to stay, but her jaw dropped at the moment he asked if she wanted to stay with him again. What the hell? Was he going on a major mood swing rampage or something? Only a few hours ago, he had wanted her out so he could have the place to himself!
Meave stopped for a moment, suddenly not scanning the area anymore. She looked down at Ataru suspiciously, wondering if he was just messing with her. Finally, she sighed and said, "Why the sudden change of heart?" Looking away, she wondered aloud, "Why do you suddenly feel alright with me and Adena staying at your place?" What she didn't say aloud was that she was willing to stay in the apartment, especially if they found Adena.
~~~
Adena couldn't help but flinch when she saw the water in Susumu's hand. It made her uneasy, though it gave her a sudden reminder about her own Power. "Yeah . . . maybe he is looking for you," she said distantly, wondering if maybe Adena was doing the same for her. What if Meave's body had tried to go through the Change? What if she couldn't handle it, and died?
Shaking her head, Adena thought about her Power again. Hopefully, the affects weren't permanent. Climbing off the stuffed-animal, she realized she no longer felt extremely weak. Backing away from Susumu, she tested her Power. She may have distrusted him after drenching her, but not so badly that she wanted to set him on fire. At least not anymore.
With a deep breath, she held a hand out. "It works!" Adena shriek in laughter as a spark of flame ignited in her palm, warming her entire arm. Calming down, she realized how childish she must have sounding. Smoothing her hair down, she quickly played it off. "Well, uh, you're lucky you didn't make my Power leave forever. Then you would have REALLY been in trouble."
Smiling at Meave's question, Ataru brushed off a tuff of hair that was covering one of his left eye. "Well, like I said, it isn't safe out here you know, and I don't want you and your friend to die out there because I didn't give you what's probably the only perfectly safe place to stay it." He turned back away from Meave, trying to hide his red face from her.
"And Meave, you should know I'm also looking for someone who's important to me." Ataru's voice had a slight sad tone to it now. "I have a younger brother, and he's also Changed like myself. A little while after we Changed, I... I scared him very badly, and he ran away from me." He sighed, turning back to Meave as he looked up at her. "Perhaps I also want to be with you because we might also have a chance to find him."
Suddenly, the ground shook for only a few moments, rattling things up decently. "What the hell was that?" Ataru growled, suddenly looking behind himself. It didn't seem like a natural earthquake, something must have caused it, earthquake's don't last for only a few moments...
~~ Bored from watching the Changed and Normal girl, Tyler yawned. "This is so very, very tedious.." He yawned. "They aren't fighting, just talking, how very boring, I think I should make things a little interesting... Yeah, I will." With a big smirk, Tyler jumped off of the tall building, and he quickly started to fall towards the ground.
When Tyler hit the ground, a sudden shockwave of electricity surrounded him, and the ground started to vibrate for a few moments. He was a good distance away from the Changed Boy and the Normal Girl, but he didn't want to be found by them so quickly, so he quickly hid himself behind a nearby trashcan..
~~~ Susumu watched Adena climb off of the stuffed animal, suddenly making the little ball of water disappear from his hand. When Adena suddenly ignited a little flame. With a slightly confused and freaked out look, Susumu watched her act a little weird, almost childlike even. "Wow, you can do it again.."
Giggling at Adena after she calmed down, Susumu walked right next to her. "Well, now your powerful again, I think that's good, just in case a burnout comes here and tries to hurt us.. After all, my power isn't offensive, I'm a little useless when it comes to fighting..." Susumu sighed. "But then again, I was able to make your power go away." He giggled. "Not that it's funny, I'm just saying.."

Huh, Meave thought. So perhaps Ataru wasn't such a shut-in loner after all. If he was looking for his little brother, then maybe he wasn't quite so cold-hearted as she first thought. In truth, she was grateful that she and Adena would have a place to stay when her lost friend was found . . . if she was found. Pushing away the bad thoughts, Meave tried to be a little more positive.
"I hope we find your brother as well," Meave said, feeling it was a good time to be comforting instead of snappish. "At least you know he survived the Change. If he's just hiding, there's a goo chance we'll find him --"
Meave was cut off in mid-sentence when the ground shook. She steadied herself and caught a glance of the area behind her. For a moment, she could have sworn she saw movement. But it disappeared as quickly as it appeared. She turned back to Ataru. "I don't think I really want to stick around and see what did that."
~~~
Adena tried not to flinch away from the water Changed, though she suddenly felt defensive of him being so near. She smirked crossing her arms, taking the opportunity to brag. "Yeah, I've taken down a few Burnouts all by myself. Practice, practice, practice. That's all I've done the last few weeks."
She scowled at him when he mentioned the unfortunate incident with the sudden disappearance of her Power. Though, she would have attacked him if he hadn't done that . . . But, then again, the past was in the past. Even if it was less than an hour ago. "Well, yeah," Adena muttered, feeling flustered at just the thought of such a kid making her un-Powerful. "Looks like you have sudden bursts of Power in spur-of-the-moment type things."
"Yeah... Whatever." Ataru sighed, running a little faster now. Whatever that strange noise was, he didn't want to see or know what it was. (That wasn't entirely true, he wouldn't mind starting a fight with it, as he always was in the mood for excitement in his life.)
Ataru and Meave were both close to the end of the Shopping Center, and yet they haven't found either Ataru's brother, or Meave's friend. "I don't think their here at all." Ataru sighed. "I don't mean to bring you down, but I'm starting to think looking here is a waste of time. Though, what do I know? Maybe my brother found a nice comfort zone here... Hmm, he always used to like going to a toy store here, maybe.."
~~~~ Following them with his decent hiding skills, Tyler listened onto the conversations the Changed and Normal girl were having. "Hmmph, so, I suppose their looking for somebody, or several people.." Smirking slightly, Tyler continued to follow them, thinking about the ways he could somehow mess around with them. Whenever it'll be in a playful manner, or in a dangerous manner.
~~~~ Smiling at Adena, Susumu nodded in agreement. "Ah, well, I guess my power can be powerful when the time comes!" He said with a small smile. "Adena, I'm going to go check outside to see if anyone is coming nearby, okay?" Susumu climbed off of the stuffed dog, and ran towards the door with his Changed speed.
Taking a small peek out the door, he could see a rather surprising sight, a normal sized girl and a Changed Boy was approaching the store. Not knowing who were either of them,(And not knowing the Changed ahoy was indeed his brother.) he panicked slightly. "Adena!" Susumu cried, running back inside. "Some people are coming!!"
"Well, I don't even know where to begin looking for Adena," Meave sighed. She scratched the back of her head, suddenly feeling a little bit hopeless. Her friend could be anywhere . . . "So, we may as well look for your brother in a place that you know he likes. We have a better chance that way." At least it was an idea, instead of just wandering around aimlessly.
Meave automatically clutched her gun, since they were going to a new and unfamiliar place (to her, at least). There was no telling if they'd have to conduct another onslaught of insane Burnouts. "Let's get going, then."
~~~
Adena froze for a moment, wondering what was the best way to react. If she was alone, she would have probably just threatened them to leave, maybe explode a nearby car to scare them off. But now she was with someone, and she couldn't risk hurting him in the process. For a few moments, she was baffled as to why she suddenly had a protective instinct over Susumu.
"Just don't panic," Adena ordered in a clam voice. She surely could take down any threat with her fire, but she doubted Susumu could hold up against Burnouts if they followed sight of the flames. "Let's go deeper into the store until they leave, okay? We don't want to attract attention." The darkness of the back shelves were hardly inviting, but they did provide some advantage for hiding.

Nodding at Meave, Ataru quickly rushed into the store, investigating every aisle and shelf. Thanks to his shrunken size, he could easily look through small hiding places with little to no effort. Still, despite his very thorough search for Susumu, he still couldn't find anyone or anything that could help him in the search.
"Hey, Meave?" Ataru ran back to the normal girl, with a slightly disappointed look on his face. "I think I looked nearly everywhere, can't find any leads on Susumu." He gave a slight sad sigh, thinking about a very horrible thought. "Maybe he's dead? He isn't a survivor at all, so some dumb ass burnouts could have already..." He gave a slight sigh, his voice was beginning to sound slightly cracked up.
----- Susumu nodded to Adena, still in a slightly panicked state. "O-Okay Adena!!" Susumu quickly ran towards the very dark portions of the store, shivering as the store got darker, and darker. Still, it was the only way for them to hide away from the possible threat.
Hiding under a small stand's table leg, Susumu shut his eyes, and just wished for the intruders to just leave. Sadly, he didn't know if they would leave at all. From this far away, it looked as if the Changed Boy was looking around at every aisle for some reason. "Adena?" Susumu cried, shutting his eyes carefully. "What are they doing now?! Are they getting closer to us?"

Meave stayed at the front of the store, searching carefully around the cash registers and windows. It came to no surprise that she found nothing. Anyone with sense would hide in the darker parts of the stores, if there was anyone there at all. She slumped down near one of the windows, resting her chin on her knees sadly.
If they couldn't even find Ataru's brother, someone who lived in this city, what were the chances they would find a single American girl with no familiarity of the place? They'd sooner find more Burnouts and possibly hostile Changed trying to defend their territory.
Meave tried to stop drowning herself in misery when Ataru approached, clearly looking downcast. One of them had to have some faith, and it seemed Meave was going to have that burden. "You can't think like that," she whispered in a gentle voice. "It'll get us nowhere, and I'd rather search my entire life for my friend than just give up. You should feel the same for your brother.
~~~
Adena climbed the shelves rapidly, finding the one most crowded with toys. She hid among them, breathing softly so no one approaching could hear. Susumu was still in sight right below her, so if he was attacked, she could just leap down.
Once the Changed boy was out of earshot, Adena watched him go back to the front of the store. It was much to dark to make out what he was doing, though she could faintly hear the hushed voice of the Changed boy among the silence of the dead building. It didn't sound like they were making any movement to leave.
Suddenly, Adena heard a much different whispering voice. It sounded familiar, yet very different at the same time. She wracked her memory, hoping against hope that it was . . . No . . . it just couldn't be. "Susumu," she called back. "They're at the front. Just stay here . . . I need to just . . . see something."
Carefully, she crept along the top of the high shelf, stepping on stuff animals to muffle her footsteps. Once she trekked to the front of the store, she was disappointed to see that it was too dark to completely make out the figures that stood there. She dared to come closer, crawling over another stuffed animal.
A loud squeak came out of the stuffed animal. Adena gasped and froze to her spot, knowing a sound that like could be heard anywhere in she store, let alone be heard by the figures right in front of her. Too shocked to move, she silently knew it was just her luck that she'd climb onto the one stuffed animal with a squeaker.
Ataru gave a gentle sigh, he was getting very depressed, and Meave's gentle words weren't enough to even give him some form of hope. "Yeah, I suppose your right." He said with a depressing sigh. "I need to pull myself together Meave. Fuck, my brother is probably out there, all alone and afraid, and here I am, being some moody sack of shit." Ataru was beginning to vent. Perhaps he was becoming frustrated by how long they have been searching, or maybe by how hopeless this entire thing seems to him. "Let's just keep on searc-"
Then, a sudden high pitched squeak was heard throughout the entire building. It continued to ring in echoes for a few moments, before the silence returned. "The hell was that?" Ataru carefully examined everything around him, before looking up at Meave with a scowl. "I'll be right back, I can tell something else is in here, and whatever it is, it probably wants us dead."
Ataru threw a few sparks of lighting out from his fingers. He looked up, and noticed in the dark store a figure that looked like it was crawling on top of one of the several plush toys in the store. It was small of course, obviously identifying it as a Changed. He thought about just jumping up at it, and attacking it. But, there was the chance it could be friendly. Or, it could even be his brother or Meave's friend. Though, there's also a equal chance of it being a corrupted Changed. Walking back with extreme caution, Ataru gazed up at the figure. "I know your up there." He said in a surprisingly neutral tone. "Who are you? And why are you here?" Ataru started to question it, a little bit wary that a single wrong word could make the Changed use whatever sort of power it had on him. Wait... Power, couldn't he use his to bring some electricity into the building?
Flicking his fingers, a few sparks of electricity came out from his hand. Yet, the buildings lights didn't turn on. It was a little strange to Ataru. Could something be interfering with his power? He didn't know, but it kind of freaked him out slightly. Though, he stayed quiet about it, not wanting to seem weak. "So, tell us, who the hell are you?" ~~~~ Susumu stayed in his little hiding spot at the end of the dark store. His heart was beating incredibly fast. He didn't want to be scared, he just wanted those people to get the heck out of his and Adena's hiding place! But no, they continued to talk, and talk, they wouldn't leave the building at all. Heck, Susumu even hoped that Adena would get close enough to them to set them on fire!
Susumu was breathing in and out heavily, wanting to keep all of the bad thoughts out of his mind. He didn't want to be in this world, a world where he needs to work this hard to survive. He just wished everything could be like it was before... But, he knew nothing could be the same
Meave, though she was running low on hope as well, was about to sternly interrupt Ataru's attitude. After all, brooding would get them nowhere. She gasped in complete surprise the moment the squeaking sound rang out, then stood defensively with one hand on her rifle, awaiting for something to come out of the darkness of the isles. Nothing was about to deter her from finding Adena, not even whatever was lurking in the store. It seemed the building wasn't so empty after all.
When no more noise came from any part of the store, Meave almost argued to Ataru that he shouldn't go alone, but she had a feeling that would only lead to bickering with the stubborn Changed boy. Instead, she nodded and swung the gun into an aiming position, should she need to fire from afar. "Just . . . be careful," she whispered as Ataru walked off, though he didn't go far before looking up.
Meave narrowed her eyes at the figure on the top of the shelf, surprised it went so long while evading her and Ataru's detection. It was unbelievably difficult to make it out in the pitch darkness, but it was something definitely alive. There was few moments of silence after Ataru demanded the unknown person to reveal themselves. Meave trained her gun in that direction, praying the Changed was somewhat sane and wouldn't attack.
The voice that came from the figure, however, made her gasp even louder than when she'd heard the squeak. It wasn't until the Changed girl stopped speaking that Meave finally found enough sense to say something.
~~~
Even in her frozen stance, Adena could make out a few words that were said by the unknown Changed boy. A sudden sense of self-preservation took over as she watched him approach, her primal instincts wanting to lash out. However, one important thing kept her from burning him. Though she still doubted it, she'd know that outline of the Normal girl anywhere. Despite all odds, could it possibly be Meave?
She just couldn't bare to risk attacking the Changed boy and hurting the Normal girl by accident. Without a doubt, the guy would fight back, leaving might-be-Meave to get injured in some way. Trying to keep calm, Adena tried to choose her words carefully. It took a massive amount of self-control to not simply run to the Normal girl -- a mistake that could possibly kill herself. Of course, Susumu was still around somewhere, and her death could ultimately mean his also. Though she hated to admit to herself, she'd started to warm up to him, despite being an unwilling victim to his Power.
Ignoring the first question, Adena snapped, "What am I do doing here? I should be asking you that! I-I was here first!" Despite trying not to stutter from anxiety and sheer excitement at the prospect of finally finding Meave, her voice skipped slightly.
The moment she spoke, Adena could practically see the Normal girl stiffen. The girl took a slow step forward, lowering the weapon in her hands. "A-Adena?" Meave faintly whispered.

The sudden few moments of silence left Ataru in great suspense, the stubborn Changed boy wanted the strange other Changed to answer as quickly as possible. Why the hell was it taking so long just to answer his simple little question?! Was it planning some sort of attack against Meave and him? Not wanting to take any big chances, Ataru went into a fighting stance, and was ready to defend himself and Meave if this crazy little thing attacked.
Ataru already felt very annoyed and hot headed when the Changed girl suddenly spoke in a very defensive manner, though it also had a stuttering tone to it. He stepped towards it slightly, and created in his hand a small electrical ball that created some light in the area. He was obviously getting very annoyed, and couldn't control any of the anger that was building up deep inside of him. "Don't act like that, it could lead to your demise, you got that?"
Ataru stopped with his threats however, he turned around and looked at Meave with a questioning look. "Err, Meave?" Ataru looked at her with a annoyed and confused expression. Why the hell was she suddenly acting so weird and awkward? Shouldn't she be raising up her gun at the strange Changed girl that possibly could be dangerous?
Then it hit Ataru, as soon as Meave whispered that timid and quiet name, Ataru's jaw suddenly dropped, in a almost silly like fashion. That changed girl was supposedly THE Adena that Meave and him had spent weeks looking for?! He couldn't believe it! "M... Meave?" His voice was quiet, and it had a incredible amount of shock in it. "Are... Are you serious?" He looked back at the Changed girl, and shined some light that was being created by his little electric ball onto her. "Tell me." He tried to change his voice back to it's normal serious tone, but a sign of shock was obviously in it. "Your Adena, aren't you?"
~ Susumu was still hiding of course, he watched the entire scene play out, and he was growing more nervous at every moment. What if the both of them just decided to get rid of Adena and kill her somehow?! That would leave him completely defenseless and he'd probably also get himself killed as well!
Though, he grew curious when he saw the shadow of the normal girl pull down her weapon. The naive young boy wondered what was going on now, did Adena somehow convince the normal girl and changed boy that they were harmless or something? That doesn't seem possible, despite knowing her for only a hour, Susumu thought that Adena would have already fried up the both of them.
However, after listening on for a while, Susumu realized that the small Changed boy's voice sounded somewhat familiar. It really did. It had a cocky tone, something he remembered his brother ha.....
Wait, could that seriously be... No, it couldn't be! Susumu shook his head violently, he wanted to know who they really were, and if that boy was his brother, Ataru.
