An overpowering moan rumbled through the air as an impossibly massive form shifted against the torn earth around it. Fingers as thick as tree trunks raked against the stone and dirt as a grimace passed the youthful features of the beast. He grumbled something inaudible before a few stray tears pushed past his moist eyelids. A hand, tender and soft, reached up and pressed against his eyelids, almost stroking the fear from the furrowed brows.
"Hush. All shall be well," a kind voice murmered. The colossus fell quiet and still, peace replacing fear. A bright orange curl fell across his face as he shifted into a position of comfort.
"You do not need to do this, Archangel," a gruff voice whispered. A shadow fell across the smaller being as something seperated itself from the mountainside. Bright steel colored eyes peered thoughtfully at the small angel. "You know as well as I that we could easily devour you in our desperation." As if to prove a point, his stomach growled deeply. Both giants were on the lean side, ribs a good bit visible from under their tan skin with the size difference. The archangel sighed.
"I am not like the lower class angels you two have eaten in the past. My power will most likely destroy you if you try," he quietly threatened, waggling a finger in the giant's direction, "But as Archangel Raphael, I want to help you both. Even though you are cursed with angelic blood, none of your deeds have been of malice. Just survival. I will help you come morning. Does that sound good, Ahya?"
"What do you require us to do in exchange for this help?" Ahya rumbled raising a questioning brow.
"Archangel Michael always said you were sharp. I want you and Ohya to help a human with his God given task. In return I will help you as much as I can," Raphael explained placing a slender hand on Ohya's ear, "Both of you hear me out. I cannot save your physical bodies, but I can keep your souls from being imprisioned like your Grigori fathers. Fear not what is coming, for I, Archangel Raphael the healing force of God, shall keep your souls free for all enternity! Do this one good deed, and all your sins will be clensed, all the blood cleaned from your hands. You will no longer be hungry or thirst, tired and weak, nor will you have to leave each other, I swear upon the name the Maker has given me."
"But we will still die," Ohya moaned waking at the Archangel's words, "Just like my nightmares." Rapheal stepped back as the long haired brother turned on his side to see the angel better. Tears silently ran in rivers down his red cheeks. Raphael could not summon an answer.
"We will do what we can," Ahya stated, concern thick in his deep voice, "For the sins we have committed." Raphael stepped back, his wings full of moonlight, and rose towards the starry night sky.
"Come morn, after I have quelled your needs, I will lead you to a hallowed place where the family that will remain after this great tragedy shall await your assitence. I will calm their fear and I pray you be gentle with them. Show us angels that you belong here as much as the humans! Show us your light! Till then Ohya! Till then Ahya! God be with you!" And the angel left them, shooting to the heavens with a might thrust of his wings. Ohya was trembling by then, curling up against his brother's body. His tears ran to the earth and were lapped up by the driend mountain dirt.
"God be with us," scoffed Ayha hugging his brother tight, "He's never been with us."
"Maybe it will change," Ohya hiccuped trying to settle down.
"Let us rest. Tomorrow we will answer Raphael's call. Rest Ohya. I am here." Ohya's ocean blue eyes closed slowly and Ahya soon followed suit.

(Warning: They sleep naked. Undergarments didn't exhist back then I do believe.)
The morning rays streached over the mountains in a lazy fashion. Ohya snuggled into his mane of firey curls and grunted. Ahya, who needed to take the time to cut his deeper honey toned hair back to it's uneven shortness, shitfed against a rock that has begun to dig into his shoulder.
"Shall we wake them?"
"They would devour us if we did that! Look how thin they have grown!"
"Maybe not. Their father wasn't an irritable grigori. He might have passed that to his children."
"They are giants! Being half angel and half man has caused a madness to grow in their minds! Are you daft, they can easily destroy us if they so want to!"
"Hush! The long haired one is waking!" Ohya opened his eyes slowly and attempted a choked out half-yawn to expell the urge to fall back to sleep. He glanced down near his tangled legs where the voices had been coming from. Two small men stood near the giants, one clearly more agitated than the other. By the light they cast, both seem to be angels, though of a lower class.
"Good morn Ser Giant," hailed the shorter angel with the clean cut brown hair as he offered the giant a hearty wave of his hand, "Archangel Raphael has sent us to you! We are here with nourishment for you and your older brother as well as to lead you to your task!" Ohya flicked nervously at his messy curls as both angels dipped their heads out of respect and most likely fear.
"Ohya," the giant rumbled, "I am Ohya. And my brother is Ahya. No need to be so formal. Unlike the stories, we try not to eat angels of any kind or humans." A pout crossed Ohya's youthful face as he pulled his legs towards him. The two angels scampered out of the way as Ohya pushed himself up to sit cross legged before the pair.
"Um...oh my... I know we may be angels and should be all right with this kind of...er..." The brunette began, stuttering and turning away from Ohya.
"Please cover yourself," the brunette's partner, an angel with black hair and stunning dusk colored eyes, bluntly asked pointing at the giant's naked lower half. Listlessly Ohya dragged a pair of their ragged pants over his waist in a towel-like fashion. Massive movement to Ohya's right meant Ahya was awake and following suit, tossing cloth over what needed to be covered.
"You said something about food?" Ahya grumbled rubbing dirt from the corners of his eyes, "But I see none. It would take an army to feed us both." Both angels nodded gravely.
"We bring something better than food to nourish you," the black haired angel stated, "We bring Manna, the food of your father!" Ahya scoffed at the two silver trays that were produced. A sweet smelling flatbread lay on the reflective surfaces.
"I am Erael," the black haired angel stated bowing before Ahya and offering his tray to the giant.
"And I am Kinriel," the brunette said offering his tray to Ohya, who shyly scooted closer out of hunger. With minor difficulty Ohya grasped a large piece of manna and quickly placed it into his mouth. Without chewing, he swallowed.
"Ohya!" Ahya was about to scold before his brother interupted.
"I feel strong again!" Ohya gasped staring with wonder at Kinriel. Ahya took the cue and began to eat slowly, unlike his brother's rapid pace.
"So you are twins, are you not?" Kinriel asked attempting conversation.
"We are. I am the oldest by mere moments," Ahya replied. Ohya had finished what was offered to him and he stood.
"Ahya looks out for me a lot," he explained pulling his tattered clothing on, "Since the visions started he's been doubling his efforts." Ahya quietly thanked the angel's for their help and also began to dress, Kinriel looking away sheepishly.
"Only because you cannot seem to take care of yourself brother," Ahya teased ruffling Ohya's orange curls.
"If you are ready, we will now lead you to where some other giants are meeting to help with this great task," Erael explained showing his great grey wings. Kinriel's mottled brown wings already had the angel airborn.
"What task is this exactly?" Ahya asked as the angel settled on his shoulder, grey wings helping to balance him.
"We are to lead you to Noah," Kinriel explained daintly as he landed on Ohya, "You are to help him." Ahya was about to argue, he didn't want to help the only man who would live according to his brother. A sadden gleam sparked in Ohya's blue eyes.
"We will accept. It is the right thing to do after all the horrible stuff we have commited," ohya sighed beginning to walk. Ahya easily fell in stride.
"Ser Raphael better keep his end of this deal. For Ohya," grumbled the disgruntled giant.
"All will be well," replied Erael tugging lightly on Ahya's honey-toned hair.

The giants kept up a steady thundering pace, only stopping to give the two massive beings a chance to rest and relieve themselves in the privacy of the mountain range they seemed to be following. Erael stayed for the most part silent from his perch upon Ahya's shoulder while Kinriel made light conversation with the twins about the hardships they both faced. More than once he had to wipe his eyes on the sleeves of his robes. Ohya and Ahya were both still young for giants, but the troubles they had faced were as immence as they were. The hunger had the be the worse to overcome, both having painfully admitted to devouring humans, herds of livestock, and even lesser guardian angels in their desperate struggle to survive.
"I understand what we are and what we have done," Ohya huffed daring to cup the angel's winged back with his hand, "but just knowing we have a chance to make ammends, it is enough to help ease the pain. And seeing beings that are willing to talk with us makes my heart soar." Kinriel leaned against the giant's neck, hiding himself in Ohya's curls.
"I admit, I feared the worst when we were told by Ser Raphael to meet with you, but hearing your words have soften my, no our, belief about you," he murmered to Ohya. Ohya smiled sadly and took back his hand.
"Once we pass these mountains we shall be near to Noah," Erael called to both giants. Their pace quickened slightly.
"You mentioned there would be more giants," Ahya inquired, "Do you have names?" Only a few giants were trying their hardest to be good and Ahya didn't want to expose his younger brother to any who were evil.
"Ser Raphael mentioned Gilgamesh, you two, Mahwey, and Kinak. Antaeus already received his task to retireve the materiels needed," Erael replied toying with his hair in thought. Ahya nodded, all were giants that attempted to do as little harm as they could. He knew in exchange for food and clothing, Antaeus would host fights for the entertainment of humans.
"Look Ahya!" Ohya cried out as the mountains thinned. The twins with the two angels could see the clearing the giants had made for Noah. Gilgamesh stood closest the the approaching party, his sharp brown eyes spotting them instantly. A warm smile shined through his black beard. He had cleaned the armor he worked hard for a good time ago so he could look his best. He had even tied back his hair. He waved in greeting. Kinak, who was too large to really interact with humans rose from his hiding place in the mountain range. He mumbled a quiet greeting as the twins passed him, his blue eyes cast down in respect. His snow white skin helped him blend in with the frosted peaks. Antaeus was chopping large trees apart, his dark olive skin brushed with sweat. He was smaller than all the other giants, and better off by the look of it. Mahwey sat near Gilgamesh, his pale brown hair and pale green eyes screaming fatigue. Like Ohya he too was having dark visions. His cheeks were a bit gaunt, but he still smiled cheerfully as the twins took a spot next to him.
"Where is Noah?" Ahya gently asked the beraggled Mahwey.
"Afraid," Mahwey answered in his songbird voice. The glowing form of Archangel Raphael exited one of the tents holding the hand on a greying man. Ohya and Ahya held their breath. The only sound was the hissing wind and the rattle of Gilgamesh's well-kept plate armor as he knelt beside the three already seated giants. Antaeus stopped his chopping and bowed in respect, leaning against the crude axe.
"My friends," Raphael warmly greeted in a loud voice, "I am glad you have come! With your help, this project shall be finished before the date the rains are due! And your souls shall all be saved, free to wander as you like! It will be as if you did not die, but you will hunger and thirst no more! There will...!" Noah interupted the angel with a waving gesture.
"All of you, though you are born of man and angel, have the deep thanks of myself and my entire family. Be gentle with us and together we will continue to the future!" Noah called out towards the distant form of Kinak. Raphael smiled and nodded in agreement.
"And now with your good will a consent I will assign your tasks to you," Noah stated confidently walking towards the giants, Raphael trailing behind wings slightly outspread spilling light upon the human.

I happen to enjoy the biblical tones, and while it makes me sad to know it won't end with Ohya and Ahya 'living' happily ever after, it touches my heart and makes me want more :3 keep up the great work!
