Daichi kept his mismatched eyes on his master until the massive tengu's cave faded from view. With a disgruntled huff, the kitsune settled down in the large saddlebag.
"He and the bakeneko do not get along," the kirin chuckled in his deep telepathic. Saiyuri laughed softly at the kitsune's low growl of disapproval. She began the miss the large tengu royal just as much as the servent. There was something about Yuuta that made her feel safe, made her feel welcomed and wanted. But how was the massive tengu so good with handeling humans? How was he so comfortable with something so fragile? Before she could question Daichi, a voice called out to her.
"Saiyuri! I cannot believe you ditched Hayato-sama like that! Your family is in a uproar!" Aoi scolded the girl. He rose from his spot on the road in the middle of the meager rice feilds the town owned. His blond hair glimmered brightly in the late afternoon sun. Beside him was the boy's guardian.
He was a tall man in a bright blue kimono. His long golden hair was tied up and held fast with two sakura adorned hair pins. His bright green eyes were outlined in black eyeliner. A bright lit his features.
"Saiyuri-chan! It has been a while! You have not been to the baths in what seems like ages!" the flamboyant man swooned. He put a hand to his face for good measure. Saiyuri dismounted and walked towards the pair. Aoi moved to take her horse and froze. He sniffed the air around the girl.
"Saiyuri," Aoi gasped, "You reek of sake." Kyou, the crossdresser, moved closer to smell Saiyuri too.
"Almost like a tengu would," he laughed.Saiyuri froze.
"Everybody knows tengu are not real," Aoi scoffed. Daichi slithered free from the saddlebags. With a foxy bark, he slunk behind the girl. Kyou gasped aloud.
"So cute!" Kyou gasped, "Saiyuri, how about you and fox-kun here stop at the baths? My treat!"

"Please? Please? Please?" begged Kyou, "You can take your mind off your family's anger and your arranged marriage! Please!" He clasped his hands together and looked directly in Saiyuri's eyes, pleading. Aoi sighed and rubbed his tempals. There was no winning with Kyou.
"I guess I can..." Saiyuri timidly replied before being dragged by the joyful Kyou. Aoi grabbed the reigns of Saiyuri's mount and hesitated.
"Aoi-sama?" the cloaked kirin asked telepathically. Aoi stroaked the majestic animals snout.
"Sake...tengu... What is going on?" Aoi muttered glaring toward the mountains.
As they entered the town, the eleaborte red and gold bathhouse rose to veiw. Lion dog statues guarded the entrance. Kyou lead them inside after Aoi tied Saiyuri's mount to the large post in front. Inside was the strong aroma of sakura drifting in the air. Kyou led Saiyuri to the womans section while Aoi trudged to the men's section.
"Well now, I did not expect to see you here," Kyou mused looking down at the fox with an all-knowing grin.
"I see you have not changed," Daichi grunted transforming back into his more human form, "I see you learned how to hide your tail better."
"Well being a tanuki, I learn quicker than you kitsune," Kyou laughed. With a growl Daichi turned away from him.
"Aw don't be like that! Come! Bathe with me like we use to. I have a private bath, so Saiyuri-san and Aoi-sama can talk." The man pulled gently on Daichi's bushy tail. Daichi groaned but caved in quickly.
"Lead the way."
"Don't I always?" With a tanuki smile, Kyou and Daichi went to the back room to give that humans their privacy.

Masqurade, if you do not have something constructive or at least nice to say about my writing, please do not comment. I know what a tanuki is and anyone who does not is free to look it up or ask. And they are usually portrayed that way, not always. I have tolerated your rude comments too long. So please...I do not mean to be nasty like this but it seems that you either do not like my writing or do not think before you comment. I am glad someone deleated your tanuki comment. In this story, Kyou is a racoon dog. Nothing more.

Saiyuri walked into the bath, her bare feet tenderly stepping on the wood floor. Kyou had wasted nothing on making his baths absolutly magnificent. The wash area was made of stone and had a drain that took the water elsewhere. Painted wood benches weree availble for the elderly or tired people who had troubles crouching or standing. The bath was ringed with stones and dragon statues poured their hebal infused hot water into the main bath. Sakura petals danced and floated on the water surface, making pale pink designs as the water carried them. A large painted screen had been erected to keep the guys from the girls. On the other side of the mountain painting, she heard a faint splash. Aoi must have been there.
"Saiyuri?" he called to her. Leaving her towl on one of the outer rocks, Saiyuri slipped carefully into the hot water. She made her way to the screen.
"I am here," she answered. A silence was shared between the two for some time before Aoi spoke up.
"You know your family loves you. This marriage will be a blessing!"
"I wish I could have chosen my husband still. My brother has already honored our name! Why must I honor it futhur?" Saiyuri bitterly demanded.
"Do you believe in spirits? Like Suzaku, Genbu, oni, kitsune, or even tengu?" Aoi calmly asked. Saiyuri could see his faint shadow as he leaned against the mountain adorned screen.
"Why do you ask?" she replied in a small voice.
"I just want to know. Do you?"
She thought hard about her answer before coughing out a yes. Aoi's pleasent laughter rang through the baths. Saiyuri could not see the thin smile on his smooth features though.
"That is good. So do I."
"I have seen a tengu," Saiyuri stated, "but in a dream of course. He saved me from falling off a cliff." She wrung her hands together. Either Aoi would accept her notion, or he would think she was absolutly crazy. There was another silence. Aoi's bitter smile dropped into a frown.
"What did it look like?" he finally asked. Saiyuri was tempted to describe something from the book of monsters she had stole a look at from her father's room, but Yuuta's image would not break itself from her foremost thoughts.
"He was very tall, a giant even, and had long golden hair streaked with red. He kept his nails long and it looked like he painted them. His face was hidden by a gold tengu mask and his wings were of the same color. He wore royal looking clothes and his voice was deep and powerful. I never caught his name," she explained toying with the sakura blossoms.
"Yuuta," Aoi quietly hissed. Saiyuri did not catch what he said, but only that he said something.
"Pardon?" she timidly asked.
"It was nothing. We should get out of the baths before we overheat. I am sure Kyou is done giving your fox a bath," Aoi stated. He stood and waded his way out of the water. Taking a moment to stare at his muddled reflection, he raised himself out of the water and pulled back on his simple cloths.
"What are you thinking Yuuta? You are going to get yourself hurt or worse," Aoi muttered. Not seeing Kyou, he slipped into the flamboyant man's private bath to check on him while Saiyuri got dressed. It would take he a while to reapply her traditional makeup anyways.

Next part will have what Daichi and Kyou were doing while Saiyuri and Aoi talked. Nothing dirty.

The white steam wafted out of the screen door as soon as Kyou tossed it open. The tanuki offered for Daichi to enter first. Flattening his ears against his auburn hair, Daichi cautiously crept in the large room. Instead of smelling like sakura like the rest of the place, the bath smelled faintly of peaches, Kyou's favorite treat.
"You never change," chuckled Daichi. He picked up the rustle of Kyou undressing.
"And I never will!" the tanuki proudly pointed out brushing past Daichi. His ringed tail swayed behind him in an alluring fashion. Rolling his two-toned eyes, Daichi slipped out of his clothes. His fox-tail was not nearly as elegant and Kyou's, but Daichi still took a moment to finally smooth it out.
Kyou slipped into the water with no hesitation. Daichi was a little hesitant, but slipped in anyways with a deep sigh.
"How is Yuuta-dono?" Kyou asked sliding chest deep in the murky water. Daichi could bearly make out the tanuki's rounded ears from under his layers of blond hair.
"Yuuta is getting into other's personal lives, like always," Daichi groaned.
"Poor Saiyuri does not know what she has gotten herself into," Kyou laughed heartly, "But more importantly, how are you doing honey?"
"What did you call me?"
"A harmless pet name."
"No," Daichi bluntly stated, one eye twitching, "we are not and will not be an item. Ever. Not even by Lord Yuuta's command!" Kyou made a slight pout, but Daichi was not even fazed.
"Kyou-kun? Daichi-kun? I am coming in," Aoi's voice said on the other side of the wood door.
"That was quick," mused Kyou aloud toying with his hair.
"You are displeased?" Noted the kitsune, "Is it with Yuuta-dono?"
"Yes. He is meddling in not only my life, but Saiyuri's. Tonight, I am going to have a talk with him, set him straight." Aoi usual smile was absent from his features.
"Aoi-sama, we do not need, nor want, a father son war," Kyou yelped raising his hands in a defensive manner. His eyes, the same as Daichi's when human, were wide with fear of what an angry tengu prince could do if pestered.
"He won't hurt me," Aoi challanged. Both the kitsune and the tanuki whimpered.
"But he can be easily hurt. He loves you," Daichi sighed sinking into the foam-crusted water.
Aoi was going to reply when he heard Saiyuri calling for them.
"She is waiting. I guess it will be a while for another meeting Daichi," Kyou grunted pulling himself from the water.
"Keep Aoi safe," Daichi replied dressing rather quickly, "And Yuuta-dono safer." Kyou nodded as his friend returned to the form of a fox and dashed to Saiyuri's side.

Saiyuri waited for the boys near the enterance. Daichi raced past Aoi and leaped into the girl's waiting arms.
"Saiyuri, you look... Beautiful," Aoi gasped. Kyou, in his usual flamboyant clothing, drifted down the hall like a geisha's ghost.
"Saiyuri! You look divine! The rose paint on your lips match well with the purple behind your vibrant eyes!" The disguised tanuki praised. Saiyuri blushed under her white facial paint.
"Thank you. But I must be getting home. Come Daichi. Thank you again Kyou-san," Saiyuri kindly stated. She carried the kitsune to the kirin's saddlebag's.
She untied his harness and climbed onto the saddle with Aoi's help. With a small sheepish wave, she turned her mount and started for home.
"That was a protection charm on her hairpin, wasn't it? I know Yuuta's work," Aoi grunted. Kyou looked up to the dying sunset.
"If you are to have that talk with your father, we need to move now," he stated.

Kyou went into the stables and lead out a normal looking black stallion. But what Aoi and Kyou saw was a gold scaled kirin.
"Good evening," the kirin polietly said in telepathy with a bow of its heavy head, "Are we going for a ride?"
"Yes Tao. We are going up to the mountains to find father," Aoi groaned jumping into the saddle with little effort. With a loud pop, the tanuki turned from a man to a large racoon dog. With a chortle, the grey animal slipped into the white leather saddlebags.
"Can you sniff father out? He should have the strong oder of sake on him," Aoi asked the kirin with a pat on the animal's strong neck. With a snort, the golden myth surged forward and dashed off for the mountains. Soon, Tao picked up on a strong almost bitter scent. He bore his riders up to a large cave mouth where something very large stirred.
"Who is here?" boomed the giant shadow as it broke from the cave's darkness. The tengu flared his wings as a threat. The monster glared at the tiny human at his feet, and Aoi returned the chilling glare with one of his own. He was unarmed, if the tengu were to attack he was doomed.
"Yuuta," the human sighed dismounting, "What are you doing?" A red nailed hand scooped Aoi from the ground.
"My son!" the distraught Yuuta cried, "I was afraid you hated me for something! I move closer to you and you still never visit!" Aoi found himself pressed hard against Yuuta's exposed cheek too close to the tengu's sharp teeth for comfort. The tengu's breath reeked of sake.
"You're drunk!" shouted the boy in disbelief.
"He left and came back like that," a voice purred from behind the tengu.
"Matsuri!" Kyou barked appearing from the saddlebags. A woman with cat-like amber eyes and a red chinese-style dress broke free from Yuuta's immense shadow. Her cat ears, which poked free from her white hair, were white tipped with red and a black cat's tail swayed behind her. The odd thing about the tail was that it broke off into two tips proving she was a bakeneko, a two-tailed cat monster.
"Ah Kyou, usless and queer as ever I see," she hissed, her tail thrashing. Kyou stopped mid-hug and retreated back to Tao's side.
"Matsuri," the tanuki pouted, "still bitchy as ever." Just before they got into a fight, Yuuta's thundering laugh washed over them.
"So cute," he cooed pulling Aoi from his loving nuzzle, "Though Kyou and Daichi would make better looking babies than Kyou and Matsuri. Speaking of, when will you give me beautiful grandbabies? I will not settle for less than beautiful. I know! You should marry Saiyuri-chan! Those grandbabies would be gorgeous!" Aoi turned red.
"She is to marry you meddling ignorant bird-brain!" he shouted at his father.
"But beautiful grandbabies," pouted the tengu.
"You need to stay out of her life and away from her father!" Aoi hollared at the tengu making Matsuri and Kyou cringe, "Or do you want a repeat of my mother?"
"Aoi, she was not your birth mother. She nursed you, yes, but did not birth you," Yuuta whimpered falling to sit near the mouth of the cave.
"But she raised me. And you killed her!" Aoi's eyes filled with tears.
"She would not return you to me," Yuuta defended.
"After you found me!"
"Enough! From my loins or not you are my son!" Yuuta retorted in a loud voice, "And I demand respect! I love you, isn't that true?" Aoi turned his back to Yuuta.
"And I love you father, but if you continue sticking your beak into Saiyuri's life, I am afraid you will get hurt. Hayato-san is powerful and I bet not below dirty tricks. I hear he betrayed his former shogun. I just want..." A blue nailed finger touched Aoi's lips.
"I will be fine," Yuuta assured, "Saiyuri-chan sought me out. It was not my doing, but I will see this through."
"You're nails look horrible," sniffled Aoi, "Let me repaint them." Kyou vanished into the cave a swiftly returned with two small wood boxes of paint and two thick brushes. Yuuta set the boy back onto the rough ground and offered the tanuki and his son each a hand. Aoi dipped his brush in the blue and began to paint through his tears, which ran silently down his cheeks. Yuuta's mask glittered coldly in the newborn moonlight from his face, hiding his facial expression from view.
"Aoi, trust me," he begged after a while, "I love you and will not leave you. Nor will I allow harm to fall upon you or Saiyuri-chan." Aoi turned to leave in silence, leaving the paint were it was. A hand gently blocked his path.
"Stay please. I was going to go check on you, but since you are all ready here... Please?" Yuuta begged. Aoi shoock his head no a few times, but when he saw Yuuta was not going to let him pass, he gave in. Kyou carried the paint back into the depths of the caveren, Matsuri following him. Yuuta scooped up his son and cradled him to his chest.
"I will trust you for now," sighed Aoi as he was carried to Yuuta's nest. The tengu curled up and lay Aoi where the curve of his stomach was.
"That is all I ask. Now sleep my beautiful son."
