Dedicated to you Dinhith! Sorry that Redemption is going so slow! Dx
---------------------------
Tucking his knees under him, a man with navy blue hair knelt in the center of the quiet park. His hair flowed about his bare ankles, new blisters bleeding on his feet. He was thin, but strong. He closed his violet eyes and clasped his thick hands together.
"Dear father, thank you for today," he prayed as two ivory white wings burst from his shoulder, "Please watch over Gildae this dark night." He grit his teeth in pain as the sound of his bones popping and expanding filled the silent air. The man cried out in pain, his voice a booming echo. He opened his eyes and rose back to his knees. The sunset was now blotchy patches of black and blue instead of the stunning pinks and oranges it had been. Stars began to wake in the sky. The giant angel sighed deeply, tucking his wings against his large back.
"Where are you Gildae?" he rumbled looking to the stars. He had to hide soon, or the lovers that only appeared at night to walk the park trails in the moonlight would find him.
He remembered Gildae's black hair inked with blood, his bright blue eyes cold, his life spilling out on the battlefield. A shudder ran through the giant as he stood. He shook his head to clear the dark thoughts from his troubled mind.
Turning from the park, he tromped off toward the nature path that was too dangerous to travel when the sun went down.
He hummed a song he had heard at the church once. It sang of God's love for all creatures, and that was just how he saw himself. A creature. He was a Grigori, the lowest rank of angels and massive in size and spirit and one of the rare Grigori that did not fall.
He reached the path without being spotted. Sighing, he saw the flattened rock he used as his bed. A large golden lynx was already there, looking from scraps of the giant's soon-to-be breakfast. With a frown, the giant stomped his foot. The cat ducked down and stared at him with wide eyes.
"Get out," the giant growled. With a sharp hiss, the cat bolted into the trees. Just as the giant was about to take his place for rest, he heard a scream. The Grigori stiffened and waded back into the trees, eyes fixed on the ground. He soon came upon the lynx, who had cornered a young boy. Thinking fast, the giant clapped his hands loudly. The cat jumped into the air with a yowl and once again vanished from view. The giant turned his attention to the boy, sobbing with his hands pressed against his ears.
"I'm sorry. I hurt you," the angel sighed tenderly, kneeling before the boy. His wings flared over the treetops.
"Are you an angel, Mr. Giant?" the boy stammered, clearly afraid of the huge being before him.
"Somewhat. Don't worry, I will not hurt you," was the reply, "Just what are you doing out here and who are you?"
"I'm Uri, and I'm looking for my mom. She takes me down here a lot," the boy sniffled. He messed with his hands, wringing them together in his lap.
"Uri... short for Uriah or Uriel," chuckled the giant moving to lay on his stomach, "I'm Armaros. I'm looking for somone too, my dear friend. His name is Gildae." Armaros offered the boy a warm-hearted smile. Uri returned the gesture.
"Is Gildae a giant like you?" Uri asked moving his ink black hair from his green eyes. Armaros' breath caught in his throat. This boy looked almost exactly like Gildae!
Shaking the shock form him, Armaros chuckled, "No. He is like you." Uri laughed and stood. He pranced over to Armaros' arm and wrapped his frail arms about it. Armaros blinked and butterflies fluttered about the pit of his stomach.
"Thank you for saving me!" Uri chirped, using Armaros' sleeve to wipe his eyes. Armaros smiled and nodded.
"It is getting late, if you wish, you may stay here with me. But you need to go home tomorrow. Your mother might be there, worried sick," the giant boomed. Uri nodded with a yawn and a smile. Armaros flattened his hand and the boy stared blankly at it.
"Get on," Armaros urged, "I'll protect you." Uri clambered on and Armaros slowly stood. It felt as if he were holding Gildae again. He flared his wings and began to walk, careful not to step on anything or topple the trees.
"Where do you live?" Uri asked with another yawn.
"I live with Manuel, but I left to find Gildae. I need to find him to make Daeril happy again. We all miss him, like your mother must..." He looked down to find the boy alseep. A smile played on the angel's features. He leaped into the air and pumped his wings.
"Father, help this boy. Send your healer to his mother and allow me to find her," the giant prayed. A star flared to life, brighter than the others. Armaros laughed lightly. Luck, and God, was on his side.
He flew to the hospital where Uri's mother must have been. An angel was waiting for the giant.
"I'll take him," Raphael stated as they hovered over the bright city. Armaros took one last look at Uri asleep in his palm before Raphael took him.
"What was wrong with his mother?" Armaros asked as the brunette angel turned about to enter the hospital.
"She came down with a severe flu. I heard your prayer and it has been ansered. She is fine. But the sun is about to rise," the angel laughed in reply. Armaros nodded and turned back to the park where he would become human with the sun's rise.
Uri opened his eyes to be in a cold white room. He cried out for Armaros and rushed to the window. He saw the huge angel as he left, nothing but a blue and white speck in the horizon.
"Thank yoooou!" the boy shouted, tears falling from his face.
"For what?" a weakened female voice asked her son.
"Momma! Guess what? I met an angel!" Uri rejoiced leaping onto his mother's bed, not knowing or caring where he was. All the boy knew was joy and thanks to the giant who had helped him find his mother.
"God, help Arma find his Gildae," the boy silently prayed in his mind as he replayed last night to his momma.
