This is an RP that me and Fang finished a bit ago.....sooooo.....its actually a completed one!
no need for updating! ,xD ....which is hopefully something you all like, 'cause there's no need
to wait for my lazy butt to write a post..^^;
Me: Danna
Fang: Spencer and Debra Alexander
p.s.........>>....you might need to know that it started as a quick RP and then we started to
take our time with the responses....so mine dont suck quite so much the whole time. ,,xD
p.s.s...^^; ....and you might need to know that in this world griffins are like a normal house
pet to giants..and are pets to elves too but are very large pets..>x]
===========================
Quickly stepping out, Danna dodged the closing door without having to shift the load of books and a messenger bag in her arms. The elf sighed in relief and left the bookstore, making her way home after finishing her shift at work. Carefully weaving in and out of traffic, she put her books into her bag and stopped at a crosswalk. 'If Im gonna make it home on time im going to have to cross the park.' Suddenly the magelight changed and the few giants in the middle sidewalk stopped to let the smaller pedestrians pass. Danna quickly ran across the crosswalk to get out of the shadow of the giants. 'Creator above....Im still not used to those people.'
----------------------------
Spencer bolted down the street in a panic, “I’m late! I’M LATE!! Oh gods above she’s going to kill me! I’m SO LATE!” He skidded around the corner, sending a group of elves scattering in terror for fear of being crushed underfoot, “Sorry! Didn’t mean it! SORRY! SO SO SORRY!” He called over his shoulder before turning back around just in time to see the magelight change and a small she-elf walking right into his path. “Shit!” He yelped and tried to stop, only to trip over himself and execute a perfect face plant against the pavement right in front of her.
----------------------------
Before Danna had time to react, the tremors of a moving giant spread through the ground under her, making her almost fall. But the elf was surprised beyond anything when suddenly a giant boomed a curse right over her and then fell heavily right into her path.
“SHIT!” The elf only had time to scream and throw herself backwards as the giant’s torso landed only twenty feet away from her, causing the earth to violently shake.
When the shaking stopped, Danna uncurled herself, and with trembling limbs sat up. ‘Oh Heaven above…..that…wasn’t fun.’ Her bag had been thrown from her and several books had unstuffed themselves and were now scattered around her. The quivering elf then looked toward the giant that had almost crushed her.
----------------------------
"Owwwwwwwwwwww..." Spencer moaned in pain, reaching up to tenderly touch his nose, wriggling his facial muscles and wincing at the burning sensation. Fortunately he didn’t skid when he landed, or else he’d be more scraped up. But it still hurt like hell! His nose felt like it had be slammed into his skull…
He gave another groan of pain, waving away the people who were asking if he was okay….until he realized that they weren’t talking to him.
Oh gods! The girl!!
He pushed himself up on his hands and knees frantically looking down under himself…expecting to find a flattened puddle of elf goo…only to find nothing.
“Wha-where? Whe-“ He froze, seeing the little elf sitting on the ground not more that a foot or so away amide a scattered array of books…”Oh praise the gods…” He heaved a huge sigh….”I thought I killed you.”
----------------------------
As she saw the giant start moving, Danna panicked. ‘Oh gods…Ive gotta get out of here before this guy falls over again ,’ she thought as she started picking up her books. Danna ignored the cries from the crowds that had moved from the crosswalk to the opposite side of where she was. The elf just wanted to get as far from the giant klutz as possible.
Gathering as many as she could, Danna was caught off guard when the giant spoke. Dropping the book she had just picked up, the terrified girl looked up at the giant. Her face paled more as she tried to answer. “Uhh….I-I thought you w-were t-too.”
----------------------------
Spencer felt his cheeks beginning to grow warmer at the sight of the elf sitting amid a pile of her scattered books, "Oh gods...gods gods...I'm SO sorry...I...I didn't mean to...just....uh...let me...help..." He started to reach for one of her books, trying to grasp the tiny object in his massive fingers and after several failures finally managed to pinch it between his thumb and finger. "Uh...h-here..." He held the book towards her, feeling extremely foolish and clumsy, wanting despreately to make things right.
----------------------------
"..oh-oh...." Danna jumped slightly when his huge fingers came closer and tried to pick up one of her books. she swallowed nervously and glanced at his face, surprised to see that his face was almost completely red from embaresment. 'Oi....its almost cute at how embaressed he is.' but she agian jumped when his eyes turned back to her and offered one of her books to her. "O-oh......th-thanks.....," unsteadily she reached for her book with both hands and grasped the edges that peeked out from between the giant fingers. tugging it from his grasp she put it into her bag, thinking of something else to say to the surprisingly handsome giant. "Uh-umm....why were u r-rushing anyway?"
----------------------------
Until then Spencer had forgotten that he had been carrying books of his own, and they two were scattered across the street...music pages littering the ground. "Aw, crap..." He picked up one...a short minuet that he had written the night before that now had a large, muddy footprint in the center. He sighed wearily and began to carefully gather the ragged music books. "Er...I'm on my way to...to..." His face deepened a shade. "Piano lessons, actually. Well...Music theory." He coughed, trying to sound more grown up. Saying piano lessons made him feel like a five year old. "But I'm late already...and my teacher is going to murder me."
----------------------------
Danna almost giggled. Looking down to put another book into her bag, she hid her slightly amused and very flustered smile. "O-oh....piano?..thats..thats..," a blush lit her own cheeks as she tried to think of a word to convey how impressive that was, with out sounding like a nerd. "..er...thats.....great...piano is a lovely instrument." Her blush deepened as she realized that she was not only keeping him...but traffic was still at a standstill and everone was watching. "W-well....we sh-should move now."
----------------------------
The giant started and looked around as if noticing the glaring crowd for the first time, "O-oh....y-yeah," He clumsily finished straightening his books and stuffing loose music sheets into his pocket before standing up, "Soo...s-see you around, I guess...so sorry about..all that." He apologized one last time as he stepped into the crowd. See you around? What a dumb thing to say. In a city this size? And him? To him all elves tended to look the same...small, fair haired little beings...how the hell would he remember that one? He didn't even know her name.
----------------------------
Startled, Danna cringed when the giant suddenly stood up and thundered off. The elf watched his massive form disappear down the street in a slight daze. ‘Oh…gods above…he was….,’ the still slightly terrified elf nervously swallowed as she remembered how he had towered over her.
Danna jumped when people started to walk past her. Blushing again, she threw the rest of her books into her bag and finally crossed the street. ‘And he just walked away……here I was thinking that the guy that almost crushed me was ‘handsome’ and he just…walks away.’ Danna huffed angrily as she started to cross the park and head toward her home. ‘Hopefully I’ll still have time to make dinner tonight……and maybe my parents will have an idea for a better way to get around, cause I really rather not get squashed.’
:About a Month Later:
Checking her written directions, Danna cautiously stopped on a street corner to try and figure out where to go next. The elf had never walked through this section of the city before and was confused by the streets. ‘Geez..I should have known that Id have to go through the district where the giants lived.’
Since her unpleasant encounter with the young giant almost a month ago, Danna had been even more cautious around giants. Though her parents understood her fear, they hoped that she would be able to overcome it. ‘Oi..probably why dad didn’t tell me that his colleague’s aunt lived in this district…and is probably a giantess.’ Frustrated, Danna again searched her directions for the next street.
A minute after, she spotted the cul-de-sac street that housed many buildings that held classes for the arts. Standing up straight, she bravely walked to the crosswalk and crossed when the traffic in the middle walkway stopped. Doing her best not to fearfully run across, Danna quickly strode through. But her caution and fear got the better of her, making her look up to the towering pedestrians not 100 feet away from her. Most of the giants were either idly talking to each other or watching the mage light at their eyeline. But Danna caught the eye of one older giant couple who were carrying packages. The two smiled down at her like caring grandparents. Forcing a smile, the elf quickly looked away and walked faster to the other side of the street. ‘Oh gods…I hope these griffins are worth it.’
----------------------------
"Nono...too fast, try it again!...remember, at a walking pace. Seventy beats...look over the page again and start from measure seven. I want to FEEL your emotion through the music. You are a mute and you must speak through the piano. The music must be your voice." The middleaged giantess said passionately as she paced across the hardwood floor, heels clacking loudly and fiery red hair streaming behind her.
Spencer sighed. They'd been working on the saaaaaame paaaaaage for the past hour and a half. He was starting to feel sick of it. But Debra Alexander was the best their was when it came to music. And if he truly desired to go as far as his heart wanted he would need all of the help from her he could get. He obediantly nodded and flexed his fingers, drawing a deep breath before he began...slowly, fluidly...almost tenderly stroking the ivory keys with slender fingers to produce a melody sweet and soothing...an undertone of sorrow hidden in the minor chords.
"Hmmm..yes...yes, much better." Debra nodded, lightly moving her hands in time with the flowing melody, closing her eyes as the lines slowed and almost swayed through the air like the sound of poetry. "Beautiful, Spencer...don't stop. Speak louder."
The young giant nodded and closed his own eyes as he left the music flow through him in a continuous circle...moving through his heart and into his hands to be played and heard, moving through his body to keep the song going. He swayed with the notes as the line rose and fell before soaring into a vibrant crescendo...as brilliant and wonderous as a ray of sunlight bursting through a clouded sky.
Gods above he loved music....more than anything else in the world, he loved it...
----------------------------
Sighing with relief, Danna stepped onto the opposite sidewalk and made her way down the winding culd-de-sac. Like the all the other buildings in the district, they were huge, standing over 100 feet though they were only single level. The sidewalk she was on was occasionally dented by shallow dips where the giant scaled entrances were. Again looking down at the paper in her hands, she reread the house number. ‘113….and im at,’ looking at the house number nearest her, Danna frowned again, ‘oi…105….so I’ve got..eight long houses to go.’ Shaking her head to displace the thought, she started walking again.
The elf was trying not to let her fear ruin her excitement. Danna had wanted to get a griffin her whole life, but the houses her and her parents had lived in had never been large enough. Their new house though had more than enough room, even for a grown griffin. With a smile, Danna realized that she had finally reached the house. Still grinning, the elf moved from the sidewalk to the brick walkway leading to the entrance for smaller guests.
With a start, Danna realized that there was another elf at the top of the stairs already, who disappeared into the house. She quickly followed and reached the dark wooden door. A sign on the door exclaimed that this was Debra Alexander’s Piano Studio, and a bell was hung over the door, ready to tell the owner that she had a guest. Taking a deep breath, Danna turned the brass door knob and walked in. as the door opened, a loud melody of music slipped through and made her pointed ears stand straight. ‘Wow…that’s…beautiful. I wonder who the student is cause they are amazing.’
----------------------------
The sound of the entry bell put an immediate end to the sweet melody. Startled from his trancelike state, Spencer jerked to attention and removed his hands from his keys to fumble for his pocketwatch, startled to see that it was already five minutes past the ending time for his lesson.
Ms. Alexander, too, seemed to be taken by surprise by the abrupt interruption. “Ah, that would be Angelique.” She declared as she clacked across the studio to the entry room on the other side of the wall, “Excellent work, Spencer. I’ll see you on Tuesday.”
The young giant smiled to himself. When Debra said “excellent work”….then you know that you had indeed done well. Beaming and blushing he gathered his books and bag and stood to leave…
----------------------------
Nervously swallowing, Danna closed the door behind her and took in the surroundings around her. It was the first time the elf had been in a building that was predominantly scaled for giants. Even if it was also built to easily accommodate smaller people, the experience was slightly unnerving to Danna.
The building was built as a one story house for a giant, but was deep and didn’t waste a single foot of the space. For convince of elven guests, there was a level built along the walls that would stand slightly below a normal sized giant’s chest. The platform level was usually built and decorated according to the needs and taste of the giant living there. Danna observed that the area around the door was a small lounge that backed into the end of the level. But to her left there were a couple of pianos of different styles and makes made for elven students. And as the platform continued, the elf saw that it turned into a more informal sitting area for guest and friends including a small fireplace.
The giant scaled parts of the house mirrored the elven. Where the lounge to her right stood, there were giant sized chairs and a table for the larger students on the main floor, that faced the elven lounge. And the remainder of the room also had two massive pianos stationed there, one more off into the corner while the larger grand style stood close to the center of the room.
Danna stood with her back to the door trying to soak in the surroundings, her eyes open wide and a hand still clutching the doorknob. She was startled out of her examining by a slight cough. Quickly swiveling her head, Danna finally saw that the elf who had entered before her was comfortable sitting on a deep green couch with a slightly amused smile on her face.
Danna blushed a deep red. She was about to ask the girl a question when her attention was brought back to the center of the room. A petite-looking giantess had come out of another room with a much taller young giant behind her. “Now take those sheets for practice Spencer. Youre getting better but you must keep..” The woman’s voice faded into background noise as the features of the giant listening intently to her came into focus. The embarrassed blush deepened and her hand rose to cover her mouth. ‘Oh no…that’s the guy that almost killed me.’
----------------------------
The young giant nodded to his teacher and finished stuffing his books into his bag, “Thanks, Ms. Alexander, I’ll see you next week.” He gave the next student a small wave as he walked by, “Hi, Angelique…” He was just about to ask how her piano theory studies were going when he noticed the second elf standing on the platform. It was the same girl he’d nearly flattened a month ago. At once his face turned a shade of deep crimson. “H-Hi…” (O__O) He stammered, unsure of what else to say.
Debra frowned momentarily, as if trying to recall if she was expecting a new student. But her brown eye lit up and she smiled warmly at the little she-elf, “Ah! You must be here about the griffins!” She remembered her nephew Stephen saying something about the daughter of his elven co-worker being interested in the fledglings.
----------------------------
As the giant walked closer, Danna was extremely relieved to see that he hadn’t yet noticed her, while plans for escaping or hiding under a piano started flying into her head. But her head snapped up to his face when his booming voice addressed the elf on the couch.
A moment after, the giant’s brown eyes turned to her and the warm greeting in them turned to shock. His cheeks instantly deepened into a blush, telling Danna that he recognized her too. The giant stammered out a greeting but before the alarmed elf could even think of a response, another voice broke the deepening awkward moment between them.
Danna turned her still abnormally wide eyes to the less frightening form of the giantess teacher. “O-oh…unnh yes…yes!,” slightly shaking her head, Danna forced herself to look at the giantess. “Er..yes Miss Alexander, Im here to see the fledglings. Thank you for letting me come over to see them,” Danna said with a slightly forced smile on her face. Though she tried to keep her eyes only on the shorter giant before her, Danna’s green eyes nervously slid back up to the taller young man beside her before quickly moving back.
----------------------------
“Spencer…” The bespectacled piano teacher turned to her towering student and smiled brightly. “Why don’t you show the young lady to the den and let her play with the fledglings? Unless you have someplace else to be…” She quickly added, raising a brow at the young giant.
Spencer gulped and looked from his teacher to the elf and back again at the piano instructor. He wanted to say “Yes, as a matter of fact, I do need to be going…I have something very important to do and I don’t have time to be showing a little elf lady a bunch of griffin kits.” ….But, he really didn’t. He had nothing else planned for the rest of the afternoon, and his evening shift didn’t start until 7.
It’s not that he minded helping an elf. Not at all….but…..just not…her. She probably HATED him. No, he knew that she hated him…and she looked as unenthusiastic about being stuck with him as he felt about having to show her around the house.
So, with no better answer to give…he forced a polite smile and nodded to Ms. Alexander. “Sure. No problem.” He cleared his throat and reluctantly looked down at the elf and pointed out the stairs leading to the ground level as he turned to walk towards the back room. “Just follow me.”
“Spencer!” His teacher’s reprimanding bark froze him in place and he gave her a questioning look.
“Chivalry.” Was all the giantess said with a snort as she gently scooped up her next student and took her to the piano studio in the back.
The young giant barely managed to keep back the groan pushing its way up his throat. He chuckled nervously and turned to the elf again, slowly stepping back to the platform where she stood. “Er…c-can I help you?” He forced himself to lift a hand and carefully extend it beside her, offering her his open palm.
----------------------------
Danna’s eyes opened even wider when the giantess piano teacher suggested that the giant that had almost killed her and then fled scene, carry her into another room and stay with her. ‘Oh please no! Creator only knows what could happen to me!’
But the elf was left with almost no alternatives when the giantess carefully gathered her next student and walked away. Turning her nervous gaze up to the giant’s face, she watched him with some trepidation while he seemed to nervously offer her his massive palm. The huge hand gently placed itself close to her and a couple of the thick fingers seemed to lightly twitch once or twice, the muscles under the skin of the palm moving synchronized with the fingers.
Her eyes traveled all the way back up to the giants face. Taking a deep breath, Danna resolved to be brave and step onto the giant’s hand. “Uh…y-yes. Th-thank you,” she stuttered as she gathered her skirt into a hand and walked to the edge of the giant’s palm, where she carefully stepped up onto the palm and settled in its center.
----------------------------
It took every bit of Spencer’s self control to keep from pulling his hand away when the elf stepped towards him…but he politely held it in place…allowing her to step up into his palm. The heels of her boots tickled as she stepped to the center and sat down, resituating her skirts in as calm and graceful manner as possible.
He kinda felt bad for her. She looked so uneasy…and he really wasn’t helping much.
He offered a small smile and lifted his hand from the platform, holding her somewhat close to his chest as he carefully made his way to the back room…moving as slowly and evenly as possible so as not to jostle her.
The fledglings heard the footsteps of someone entering the room and they immediately began chirping and mewing…
Spencer couldn’t help but smile. He usually didn’t like to gush over little animals…but it was pretty much impossible not to love the little kits.
He rounded the corner, grinning at the sight of the griffin fledglings squirming and wriggling all over one another in their basket all chirping and squawking in hopes of gaining his attention.
“Oi…easy, easy…” He laughed, nearly forgetting the elf in his palm for a moment as he knelt down beside the basket, but as she shifted against his hand, he remembered and carefully lowered his hand to the floor…”Sorry…they get really excited when people come near.”
He looked down at the elf a moment longer… ”Er…My name’s Spencer, by the way…I don’t believe I’ve caught yours yet.”
----------------------------
Danna took a deep breath, bracing herself for the “ride” into the other room. Despite living in a society that welcomed and had achieved a peaceful co-existence between the two different races, the elf had never had to be carried by a giant before. She had lived most of her life amongst elves and the last few months in a city that was teeming with both races had been an experience.
‘And then…I was almost squished..by this guy.’ With a slight grimace, Danna looked up at the giant’s face. She was surprised to see that he was looking at her with a small smile on his face. Blushing lightly, Danna looked away to watch the room pass by her as the giant moved into the back living room. But Danna couldn’t help but notice that the ride wasn’t as jarring as she had thought it could be. Wondering if perhaps that the giant was actually being thoughtful and careful, Danna again tilted her head to look up at his face. But she immediately looked forward again, her blush deepening again, as she realized how close she was to the giant’s chest. ‘Oi gods, I don’t think that ive blushed so much..well ever.”
A few moments later, the cries of the griffin fledglings reached her pointed ears, bringing a large smile to her face. When the large basket containing the litter of six gleefully squirming griffins came into view, she gave a happy laugh. ‘Oh they are just to adorable!,’ she mentally cooed.
Unfortunately Danna was almost jolted out of her happy moment when the giant’s hand shifted a bit too fast, and she partially fell against his palm. Now slightly annoyed again, the elf blew some strands of hair out of her face as she pushed herself back up. ‘The griffins aren’t the only things that get excited easily,’ Danna thought as she gathered herself and tried to gracefully walk off the giant hand.
When she had stepped off, Danna turned around and looked up into his face. Again the elf found herself deflating at the smile on his face and wondered if it was a defense mechanism against someone’s wrath by making them nervous all over again. She swallowed hard and tried to answer to the kneeling giant before her. “Oh…Im Danna…its nice to meet you Spencer…er….again…”
----------------------------
Spencer blushed, “Danna…” He repeated her name back to her with a soft smile. It was weird…he was beginning to feel the awkwardness slowly melt away…but…at the same time he was still feeling very uncomfortable. If that could possibly make sense. “Nice to officially meet you as well.”
The chirps of the little griffins provided an excellent distraction and he quickly turned his attention to one of the darker colored fledglings trying to squirm its way over the side of the basket,
“Oi, easy now, lil fella.” He laughed and gently picked up the griffin, placing the chirping ball of fuzzy feathers and fur beside the elf, giving the griffin a few tender pats atop the head with a finger. “So you like griffins, eh?” He smiled down at Danna.
----------------------------
Danna was glad that the giant had broken his gaze by turning to look at the basket. She had a feeling fluttering in her stomach that if he hadn’t the conversational look between them might have prolonged into a…..well Danna wasn’t quiet sure what. ‘How is it that Im….actually attracted to this giant?..Ive never really looked at giants “like that”…’
The elf let her train of thought trial off as Spencer plucked an almost black colored fledgling out of the basket and placed the squirming animal next to her. A large smile spread across her face as she watched the baby griffin pause contentedly while Spencer’s large finger stroked its head. “Yes, I’ve always loved griffins. I think that they’re adorable even if they grow to be rather large,” Danna blushed slightly when she heard the possible double meaning in her words.
But at that moment the fledgling’s eyes opened as it heard someone else’s voice and chirped happily at Danna. Squirming out from under Spencer’s finger, the fuzzy form of the griffin kit jumped at Danna placing its large front paws on her chest, mewing for attention. The slight elf laughed and stumbled back a step as the weight of a medium sized dog landed on her. “Aw! You are just too lovable aren’t you?,” she cooed at the griffin and scratched its head.
----------------------------
At once the griffin’s features melted into an expression of pure delight and a deep purr rumbled up from his feathered chest as he rested his forehead against the elf, nudging her occasionally if the petting slowed or if he felt he wasn’t getting enough attention…
“I do believe you’ve just made yourself a lifelong friend.” Spencer laughed at the two, reaching out to pet one of the other fledglings who had begun to howl for attention. “These little guys are gluttons for love and attention…but guaranteed to remain faithful forever.” He grinned, “My cousin’s birthday is in a week and I am considering picking one out to surprise her with.” He shared his thoughts as he scooped up a tawny colored female and cradled her carefully in his palm while he scratched the underside of her jaw with a finger. “Course, I’m sure her brothers would hate me for it…but I’d considered it revenge for the many years of pranks they’ve managed to pull on me.” He laughed good naturedly and continued to stroke the purring, mewing griffin in his hand.
----------------------------
The elf laughed, both at the antics of the griffins and at Spencer’s words. Danna was too elated at the moment to remember to be angry, embarrassed, or anything else that she had previously felt towards the giant. “Really? How can anyone hate a face like this?,” she said to Spencer but looked at the fledgling leaning against her and playfully ruffled the baby feathers and fur on its cheeks. Chirping as if in agreement, the griffin’s tail swayed furiously and the already large wings twitched open and closed.
Doing her best to push the enthusiastic kit off of her, Danna sat down infront of the giant with a careful twist of her skirt. The young griffin eyed her curiously for a second, but quickly stepped closer to her again and happily laid down with his head in her lap.
“Oh, your so needy aren’t you? Just have to be loved on huh?,” she cooed and started to again scratch the large head. Danna shook the hair from her face and turned her smiling face to look up at Spencer. “How old will your cousin be turning?,” the elf questioned and noticed how gentle he was with the other griffin kit in his hand. ‘Maybe he was just having a really unlucky day when he almost fell on me?’
----------------------------
“She’ll be eleven on the fifteenth.” Spencer grinned and gently rolled the griffin over with the nudge of a finger, playfully rubbing at her soft furred belly with a fingertip.
The tawny griffin simply laid out limp in the giant’s broad palm…paralyzed by her sheer happiness. The loud purring emitting from her feathered chest was the only clue that the animal wasn’t dead…
“She loves animals, so I think a griffin would be the perfect companion. Don’t you agree?” He looked down to the elf, smiling at her affection towards the black feathered fledgling.
----------------------------
Spencer’s hand was low enough to allow Danna a good view of the limp fledgling in his large palm. The elf laughed hard at the look of pure bliss on the griffin’s face, and her hands paused their scratching for a moment. Finding himself suddenly ignored, the black kit gave a forlorn mew and rubbed his forehead against Danna. “Oh you cant wait a minute can you?,” she said still smiling at the griffin in her lap and started to vigorously scratching him again.
After pacifying the large fledgling, Danna looked at the giant with an amused roll of her eyes. “Well if she wants a pet that’s about as loving as anything but constantly demands it, then a griffin is perfect.”
As her sentence finished, the elf again found herself looking into Spencer’s face and almost awkwardly catching his gaze again. ‘And he does have a handsome face.’ Looking away to avoid letting her blush show, Danna’s eyes fell on the door leading back to the studio. “So how long have you been taking piano lessons?,” she offered to keep the casual conversation going. Her lips turned into a playful smirk, “The first time we met I kinda got the impression that they’re important to you.”
----------------------------
Spencer was a bit caught of guard by the elf’s comment. “I…er…y-yes. I do. I mean, they do. The music. It means a lot to me.” He blushed. Crap. She had him all nervous again and he couldn’t even get a full, logical sentence out. “I mean…yes…the music …is a very important part of my life.”
Gods did he feel like an idiot…
He quickly turned his attention to the tawny griffin who had begin to mew and whine loudly when his petting had creased…He stammered an apology to the little creature and gently strokes her head.
“Soo…I…think he’s taken a liking to you…” He grinned and nodded to the dark griffin sprawled out with his head in her lap. “Think you’ll be able to chose?” He looked at the remaining three griffins…two wrestling with eachother and an even larger black male curled up in the corner and sleeping soundly.
----------------------------
Danna smiled to herself, satisfied at Spencer’s unease when he answered her question. The elf had spent the last month even more fearful of giants than she had ever been and had been angry at the one infront of her for being the cause of it, but Danna was finding that the same giant was removing most of her anxiety and unease.
‘Its not just realizing that giants for the most part wont hurt me intentionally…..its actually Spencer that’s making me feel safer,’ the thought sent large butterflies in her stomach dancing. ‘Though Im having fun making him uncomfortable about that day.’ She smirked to herself, but it quickly melted into a warm smile when Spencer addressed the griffin in his hand and mentioned the black one in her lap.
Pursing her lips, Danna considered the griffin with her. The fledgling had pulled as much of himself onto her lap as he could and was now seemingly asleep. But if the elf’s hands paused too long the kit would nuzzle her and a begging chirp would remind Danna to continue petting.
She smiled again at the fuzzy creature and looked up at Spencer. “Well this one certainly is loving and adorable. But I think that I might need one that is a bit less…..rambunctious. I have a lot of classes and my parents work at the university too and this one might need just a bit more attention than I can give right now to training.” Pausing to consider the kit again she asked the giant, “What do you think about the others? Are there any others that might be better?” Danna was hoping that one of the fledglings had the right type of temperament or the elf would probably have to hold off buying one.
----------------------------
The giant looked over the remaining kits in the basket. The two wrestling looked a bit smaller than the others…and by far the two most hyper…
The largest kit growled deeply when the other two rolled too close and lazy reached out to bat them away with a large paw before settling back down to go back to sleep.
“Heh…Looks like your other choices are hyper and lazy.” Spencer shrugged and looked down at the tawny griffin, looking her over a moment and rubbing his jaw thoughfully… “I was going to take this little one with me…but if you’re interested in her, you’re welcome to chose her.” He lowered his hand and the kit down beside the elf.
----------------------------
Danna was surprised when Spencer’s huge hand reached out and settled right next to her, the smaller tawny kit looking back at the elf from his palm. Tilting her head curiously, the fledgling padded across the palm to the side of the palm closest to Danna and chirped in greeting. ‘He’s willing to let me have the kit that he was going to give his cousin?,’ Danna thought with a surprised look on her face and a the butterflies danced around her stomach again.
Smiling at the tawny kit, the elf reached out her hand to scratch the baby fur. “How you doing girl? How about it..did you want to come home with me?” The fledgling nudged the elf happily, but after a moment walked back to the center of Spencer’s palm and looked up at him expectantly.
Danna laughed, “Oh! It seems that she’s already decided who she wants.” Turning to look at the griffin in her lap, Danna considered the large kit while lazily stroking its head. “Hmmm….well I think that Ill take this one then. He seemed to like me well enough, huh fuzzy one?,” she cooed and vigorously scratched the griffin’s head again.
----------------------------
Spencer looked down at the kit in his hand with surprise. She seemed to want to stay. A small smile turned the corners up his lips up. Though he’d been willing to give the little honey colored fledgling up to Danna…he had been hoping she would say no. He knew this little one would be perfect for Annalyn.
“Ahh…so you’d rather stay, little one?” He laughed softly and lifted the kit again, fondly petting down her back with a curled finger.
The little black furred kit blinked up at the elf, as if understanding her words, his bright yellow eyes seemed to dance and he gave a bright chirp before rubbing the top of his feathered head against the underside of her jaw, purr rumbling to life again like a loud motor as he trilled happily.
Spencer looked down to the she-elf again, “If you wish, you can keep the kit here a week longer. They’re still a bit young, and Mrs. Alexander breeds and trains griffins on the side if you’re interested. You could leave him here and let her train him a bit and then either you can come get him or…” He paused and offered a kind smile, “It wouldn’t be too much trouble to bring him to you, if you wish.”
----------------------------
The elf was almost knocked backwards when the kit started to excitedly rub the underside of her jaw. With a huge smile on her face, Danna threw her arms around the fledgling’s neck, making sure to be mindful of his wings. She was elated that the baby griffin seemed to like her so much already and knew that he would be an amazing pet.
She was so caught up in loving on the kit infront of her, Danna almost missed what Spencer was saying. ‘Training would be excellent! Im so glad that my father heard about Mrs. Alexander……,’ her thoughts trailed off as the giant told her that she could come back for her kit.
This appealed to Danna seeing it would give her more time to prepare to have a griffin fledgling at her home. The elf was about to comment on the idea, but she stopped as a blush lit her cheeks and her heart seemingly skipped a beat. “Y-you mean that you w-wouldn’t mind to bring him..yourself?” The elf looked back down at the black fledgling, trying to again hide her blush. “If you wouldn’t mind that would be really great Spencer.”
----------------------------
“Of course not, it wouldn’t be a problem at all.” The young giant blushed deeply and smiled. “I could bring him next Friday after class if that’s alright with you…” He gave the kit in his palm one final stroke down her back before softly apologizing and placing her in the basket beside her siblings.
The tawny griffin mewed unhappily and ruffled her feathers…moodily pawing at her brothers as they rolled past, still wrestling.
“So you’ve made your choice, then?” Spencer grinned down at the griffin and elf, watching her continue to affectionately play and cuddle with the fledgling . “If you’re ready to say goodbye, I can take you back to the door…” He offered, placing his hand down beside her once more.
----------------------------
Danna looked up in time to see that the giant also had a blush highlighting his cheeks. She smiled at how Spencer seemed to share her awkwardness. ‘But it’s a…..good awkwardness.’
The elf watched as the little female griffin was placed back into the basket with the others from her litter, making grumpy sounds when she was in. Dana laughed at the disgruntled mews and chirps and could easily imagine the tawny feathers sulkily ruffling. Still very elated at having not only found a griffin but at…really meeting Spencer, Danna again gave the black fledgling a hug and buried her face in the fuzzy fur and feathers. “Huh?...oh…,” she responded to Spencer’s question with a slight blush, “oh I guess so.”
She stood up carefully and brushed the fur off herself. She walked towards Spencer’s hand and looked down at the kit, smiling when he eagerly followed her. The elf again walked onto the muscled surface of Spencer’s palm and sat down in the center, but this time with a large black griffin fledgling laying right next to her happily swishing his tail. “Spencer…what do u think of the name ‘Taelor’ for him?” she asked the huge young man with a tilt of her head.
----------------------------
Spencer smiled and carefully lifted the duo to eyelevel. “I think Taelor would fit him just fine.” He reached up and gave the kit a few gentle strokes down his back and between his wings, laughing softly as the fledgling’s surprisingly loud purr intensified. “You just love any attention you can get, don’t you, little fella?’
The giant smiled kindly, waiting until the elf had bid her new griffin goodbye before gently picking up the kit and placing him down with the rest of his family, mama griffin having returned from napping elsewhere to nurse her little ones.
Spencer carefully grabbed his bag with his free hand and stood, making sure to take his time walking back to the front door. He told himself it was for Danna’s sake…so the ride wouldn’t frighten her…
But in reality, he didn’t really wanna have to say goodbye so soon…or let her out of his hands.
He blushed at the thought. How corny was that…
“So…uh…next Friday afternoon, then? Would that still be alright for you?” He hesitated a moment before extending his hand and placing it on the platform for smaller folk.
----------------------------
Danna hid her face behind her hand as she laughed at Spencer and Taelor. When the giant fingers moved away from the kit, Danna again put her arms around the feathered neck. “Bye Taelor…..it wont be long till next Friday and Ill have everything ready!” pulling back from the hug the elf smiled and ruffled the fuzzy cheeks one more time.
Then Spencer pulled the fledgling away from his palm, and Danna scooted to the edge of his hand, holding tightly onto one of his fingers as she watched the little kits gather around their mother. Dana smiled softly as she watched her Taelor wriggle over the other kits to be first to their mother’s belly.
She kept a hold of Spencer’s finger to steady herself when the giant grabbed his belongings. But the elf was almost unsurprised to find that the ride was steady and level, even when Spencer bent and eventually straightened to his towering height. Looking down at the finger in her grasp, Danna was surprised to find that she wished that she could stay in the hand holding her….stay with Spencer. ‘How could half an hour completely change my view of this giant?’
Looking up, Danna saw that they had reached the platform and Spencer had paused, his hand about fifteen feet above the floor. ‘I wonder if Spencer is feeling the same way….’ Turning her face upwards, the elf saw another blush on Spencer’s cheeks a moment before he lowered his hand to the platform, allowing her to step off. “Oh..yes…..next Friday is perfect…, “ Danna answered, “oh! You’ll have to come the back way, through the park.” Danna explained how Spencer could reach her home safely due to the main entrance was only made for smaller people. “Ummm…but yah……..th-thank you so much for helping me out this afternoon.” Danna yet again was blushing and looking away from Spencer’s face. “ I guess that I should wait here till Mrs. Alexander is done so that I can tell her that I choose Taelor.”
----------------------------
The young giant went through a measure of sadness when he felt the elf's slight weight leave his palm as she stepped onto the platform. How was it possible to be almost terrified of someone and then want to be around them forever in just a matter of minutes? After she was safely out of his hand, he stepped back and lowered himself just a little so she wouldn't have to look so far up. Plus it kept his neck from hurting so much.
"Oh...w-well...I can tell her that." He smiled warmly. "Or you could leave her a note." He ran a hand through his short reddish hair, "Orrrr...we could just sit and wait for Mrs. Alexander to be finished." He almost blurted...he wanted her to say yes to the last one. He really didn't mind sitting with her for a bit longer.
But his hopes were quickly dashed when the giantess reapeared with her student safely cupped in her hands, "Thank you, Elise...wonderful job as usual...keep practicing the third page and I'm sure you'll have it memorized by next Tuesday." She smiled down at the elf before placing her hands beside the platform and letting the girl walk off to wave at the others and leave through the small door.
The bespectacled giantess blinked up at her taller student before looking down to Danna to smile warmly, "Well, then, have you made a choice, Danna?"
----------------------------
‘Aww..how thoughtful is that?’ the elf thought when Spencer bent, bringing his face closer to her. Almost giggling, she thought about the irony in this; the one who had almost flattened her was turning out to be quite the gentleman.
But her almost giggle vanished and the fluttering butterflies in her stomach danced harder when Spencer suggested that they could sit and wait together. Danna’s blushing, but affirmative response was cut off by the sudden reappearance of Mrs. Alexander herself and her student. Both Danna and Spencer watched with slightly perturbed moods as the student waved a friendly good-bye and left.
Suddenly realizing how her mood may have been noticed, Danna cleared her throat almost embarrassedly when Mrs. Alexander smiled warmly at her. “Yes I did Mrs. Alexander. The one male who’s rather dark and the second biggest. He was very adorable and friendly, and I think that he’d be perfect. Oh and Spencer was such a help, thank you for lending me one of your students to help.” Danna ended with a playful tone and blush, hoping that her almost overly enthusiastic comment about the giant would be taken for friendly banter.
“Umm….Spencer mentioned that you will train them also before I take Taelor…er…that’s the name I choose..^//^…..a-and he also offered to bring the kit to my house next Friday.”
----------------------------
Spencer felt his face warm with a blush. He was pretty sure that the elf’s comment had just been meant as a playful remark. But he actually meant it. He was glad Mrs. Alexander had asked him to stay and help.
If not, he would still be embarrassed and timid at the mere sight of an elf.
Danna seemed to forgive him for the accident. And that helped more than even he was truly aware of.
“Meh…it wasn’t a problem.” The giant blushed and rubbed the bridge of his nose in an attempt to hide his reddening face. “Really…”
Debra Alexander adjusted her glasses and gave her student a curious look, noticing his blushing awkward mood…
She smiled knowingly to herself and nodded to the elf. “Of course I can. Not a problem at all. I’ll train him with the basics and place some basic medical spells over him and Spencer can bring him to you when he’s ready.”
The male giant bobbed his head in agreement and smile…”Yeah…Friday. I’ll bring him then…”
----------------------------
Red yet again tinged Danna’s cheeks. The smile on the giantess’s face plainly said that she could read the moods of the two teenagers. “Thank you so much Mrs. Alexander. My dad will send a note to the bank to transfer the money to your bank.”
Taking in a deeper breath, the elf tilted her head farther back and looked into Spencer’s face. A genuine smile lightened her face, “And thanks again Spencer. I really appreciate your help and I cant wait for Friday…..oh…o///o……you know…itll be nice to see you and to have Taelor home…..er…yah…thanks…bye!” Now almost embarrassed beyond anything, the elf quickly grabbed her bag and almost dashed through the door.
The butterflies in her stomach kept her fast pace going as Danna went down the stairs and started down the sidewalk. She was so deep in thought she didn’t even really notice a giantess and her son walking past her, the young giant loudly complaining about having to go to violin practice. ‘Oh Creator…….that was defiantly interesting…..…..…though..I hope that Friday comes quickly.’
----------------------------
Spencer couldn't help but be startled and a bit dissapointed with her abrupt goodbye. "uh...B-bye." He waved after her and watched her practically bolt through the door...
He sighed and gave a start when he remembered that his teacher was there watching him..."Oh...eh...I...uh...I should probably go too. Mum's probably wondering where I am..."
He pulled out his pocket watch and pretended to look at the time...but really all he could think about was when he would see Danna again..."Oioi...eya...I gotta go! Mum'll kill me if I'm late for supper..." He offered an apologetic smile to his teacher, blushing yet again at the smirk on her face and the all knowing look behind her glasses. "Er...eya...so...see you next week." He gave a timid bow and quickly stepped through the door, pausing only to hold it open for the boy and his mother coming through.
Never before had he felt like such an idiot...but a happy idiot...
He smiled to himself and brushed a hand over his warm face. He could hardly wait for Friday.

===========================
