((One night I had had this dream and it was really interesting. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish this story, since I'm making everything up at the top of my head, but I'll try))
Demon-a supernatural being that is generally described as a hostile spirit. It is also considered an “unclean spirit” by some and mostly feared by all. But not all demons are necessarily bad; they might act cold and inconsiderate, but they might have a good soul. This story is set in the present time of 2010 except demonic creatures and humans coexist.
‘Geez, I was so excited last night I could hardly sleep…’ Lexie thought to herself as she let out a blood pumping yawn and rubbed the sleep away from her eyes. Why was she so excited? Well, today was the day that she would register for her new high school and one of the best high schools in the nation too! She and a couple of her other registering buddies were carpooling with her father to Oxford Academy, to find out about their classes and classmates. It would be nice drive from her house, if traffic weren’t so terrible.
She quickly hopped out of her canopy bed and ran to her closet. ‘Now what to wear, what to wear…’ she pondered, shuffling through her rack of clothes. She didn’t have the hugest selection at this time, due to the fact that she was still wearing a uniform because of her middle school’s rules (ugh!), but she had enough cute clothes to get her by. She grabbed her skinny jeans and a pink v-neck that said “It’s Not Me, It’s You” and walked out of her bedroom into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. Lexie took a 10 minute hot shower, combed out her dark brown, shoulder-length hair; got dressed, and walked back out feeling refreshed and even more excited. The only downside about Oxford Academy was that it was coed, with demons and humans. As a child, she was told by her friends that demons were cold and merciless creatures that didn’t care for anyone. The middle school she was at only had humans, or half-humans, attending; she never shared a class with demons before so she didn’t know how she was going to react. Pushing the thought out of her mind, she walked up to the closed door of her parents’ bedroom and knocked on it.
“Dad,” she called softly, “it’s 7 o’ clock, you need to wake up or else we’ll be late!” With that, Lexie walked down the hall and into the kitchen. She was lucky her mother had taught her how to cook at such a young age; this made it easier for her when she wanted to leave the house by a certain time. She popped some toast in the toaster and got out a skillet so she could scramble an egg. While she cracked the egg and its contents spilled into the middle of the skillet, she heard footsteps approach the kitchen.
‘At least I know one of them is up and ready,’ she thought to herself, shaking her head. It was her father, nonetheless. Any time he smelled food, he was up and ready to do anything and go anywhere.
“Morning sweetheart,” he said gruffly, walking over to the refrigerator and getting out a carton of milk. He set it on the counter, grabbed a bowl and his cereal, and poured it all in, mixing it up with a sloshing noise. At this time, Lexie had finished scrambling her eggs, put both the eggs and toast onto her plate, and walked out of the kitchen.
“Hurry up and get out of your nightclothes dad, we don’t have all morning you know,” she replied as she walked to her room, a little peeved at his sloth-like speed. Once she was inside, she shut the door lightly and sat at her work table. She grabbed her iPhone off the charger and started texting her friends.
Lexie: wake up u guys, time 4 registration!
Lexie pressed “send” and awaited a reply from all of them. As soon as she heard her message tone, she read her 3 new messages:
Lizzie: alright alright, I’m up…let me eat somethin first. text u when I’m done♥
Penelope: wait… that was 2day?! oh crud!! b there n a jiff!
Asia: open ur window and slide the ladder out, i can’t jump from my window 2 ur’s!
Lexie giggled at Asia’s request as she walked to the window. She opened the drapes and surely, there was Asia waiting patiently. Lexie opened her window; slid the purple ladder, which connected her and Asia’s window, out further; and held it tightly as Asia walked on it. Once she was safely inside, she heaved a sigh of relief.
“Thanks Lex, you’re a lifesaver…” Asia replied, giving a small smile. “Now all we have to do is wait for those other two boneheads, right?”
Lexie quickly scanned Asia’s outfit; she had on a pair of ripped, black bootcut jeans and a purple shirt with the words “rock out” on it. Her blonde hair was pulled into a lightly curled ponytail, and her pink highlight was hanging off the side of her face, almost covering her pointed ear. Asia was half-pixie, half-human; but she wasn’t considered a demon because pixies didn’t have demonic intentions. She inherited the human traits, but the personality and powers of a pixie. No wings…unfortunately…

Penelope was the second to arrive as she walked up to Lexie’s house and rang the door bell. She had on her denim shorts and thin white leggings, with her black all-star converse. She wore the white shirt she had bedazzled with red and blue stones last year and her hair apple-red, Rapunzel-like hair was bunched up into two pigtails, sweeping the ground as she walked.
Lexie rushed to the first floor of her house and opened the door. “G’day Sheila,” Lexie stated in an Australian accent, smiling.
Penelope rolled her purple-colored eyes, due to her contacts, and giggled. “Just let me in Lex, or do I have to push you out of the way myself?” She replied, getting in a sumo-wrestler position. Penelope knew she didn’t stand a chance even if she tried; Lexie was the strongest of the four and was the smartest too. If she wanted to, she could pick Penelope up and carry her bridal style; that was just how strong she was.
Lexie stepped aside and allowed Penelope to pass, still smirking at the thought of Penelope trying to push her way through. Just as Lexie was about to shut the door, she stopped herself when she saw Lizzie running towards them, carrying her black Prada purse and wearing the same outfit as Penelope; only her shirt was purple, non-bedazzled, and said “Oh My Gansta” on it. All of her brunette hair was pulled to the right side in a curly ponytail and her jagged bangs were blowing with the wind.
Lexie opened the door a bit further so Lizzie wouldn’t crash into anything.
“Thanks,” Lizzie managed to say between her heavy panting. “I cannot wait ‘til spring break is over… I’ll be able to go back to the track team…”
Lexie let out a small gasp. “How could you say that, don’t you like spring break? Or would you rather be in school with our teacher, Mr. Phillips?”
“Okay, you have a point,” Lizzie replied, “so… who’s ready for registration?”
“ME!!!” All girls cried out, including Asia who had just walked down to the first floor.
“Well with that said, we better get to the minivan, right ladies?” Lexie’s dad, who randomly appeared from nowhere all dressed up, stated as he pulled out his car keys. “I already told Lexie’s mom that we’re leaving so let’s head on out!”
All the girls giggled and walked out of the house to the minivan, waiting for Lexie’s dad to unlock the doors. Once it was, they all hopped in the back seat and strapped in; Lexie’s dad hopped in the drivers’ seat and revved up the engine. When it started, he pulled out of the parking space and drove down the road.
