He flinched with surprise when Atera left the room so suddenly. He walked to the side of the box closest to the door and tried to see out into the hall, but couldn't. Of all things she could have done, she just took off. And that confused him a lot. Colfax stayed rooted to his spot for a long while, watching the door.
He very faintly heard conversation; so another Grodi had come home. He wondered whether she was going to tell the new arrival about him. That would certainly make covering this whole fiasco even more difficult. But, minutes continued to tick by without anyone returning to the room. Colfax meandered to about the center of his plastic "room" and sat slowly on the surface. He found that he was a little bit hungry, so he pulled his small ration from his pocket. It wasn't much, but he couldn't count on some unknown Grodi after all.
Colfax immediately straightened up where he sat when Atera returned. He stayed alert every second, as he should. He watched her set down a plate of crumbs, his gaze lingering on it. His first idea was poison, but it might also be some sort of bait for getting him to cooperate. Whatever it was intended for, he put it out of his mind; she was talking again.
He blinked in surprise at the conversation she chose. It was, to say the least, a surprise. He found himself thinking about it, trying to come up with an actual answer. And he had none. He'd never really had a hobby. Most of his life was built upon his training for eventually becoming the spy he was. He frowned as he tried to come up with an answer.
Then, Colfax shook his head. That was not important. He had an idea to keep her talking civilized, and at the same time to figure out what she might be up to. He tilted his head. "What ... what would you invent, if you could?"

Atera looked at him and waited for an answer. For a quite long time, he did not respond, but seemed as if he was thinking very hard. Was that really such a hard question, so one had to ponder so long for an answer? But she just waited patiently until he finally spoke: "What ... what would you invent, if you could?"
It was not what she expected him to say. But on the other hand, is was not such a big surprise. He had shown that he was not that fond of giving anything away about him. Anyway, she was a tiny bit happy, that he actually tried to keep the conversation going. She leaned back in her chair and bit her thumb - a typical gesture Atera made, when she was thinking hard on something. "What would I invent... hmm.". She thought of the things that happened to her today. Was there anything that would be desperately needed in Grodan? Then she had an idea: "Ah yes! If I could, I would invent a streetcar which would not need as much energy as those old, rusty wagons. Then we could build much more of them, and thus, there would be more than two streetcars per day... and it would not be that stuffed with people anymore, because then, there would be longer trains... I think." as she finished, she was a little surprised by herself. She had never had such ideas. Normally, she just lived from day to day and did what she was told to do. But now, this simple question that little guy asked, was enough to give her some creativity.
Atera looked at him with a questioning expression. Then she placed her arms on the desk, to rest her head on it. Now her face was only a few inches away from the plastic box. She narrowed her eyes at him and asked: "Hey!How did you do that?"

Colfax watched warily as she leaned back once more. She seemed to be actually thinking really hard. It kind of surprised him, that his seemingly simple question evoked such a deep thought process. Colfax wasn't personally very aware of the strange effect Tigo could have on Grodi and their creativity.
When she began explaining her wishful plan, Colfax tilted his head. He stepped forward and leaned slightly on the plastic with his hands, watching her carefully. Her manner seemed very different all of a sudden. And her idea was pretty sound. It made a lot of sense. But it also confounded Colfax's efforts to effectively spy. To his reports it was essentially useless.
When she leaned back in so close, Colfax stepped back a few steps, partially from surprise and partially to be able to better keep an eye on her movements. Her question made him frown with some confusion. Unable to control himself, his own curiosity got the better of him and he asked, "How did I do what?"

When she leaned back in so close, Colfax stepped back a few steps, partially from surprise and partially to be able to better keep an eye on her movements. Her question made him frown with some confusion. Unable to control himself, his own curiosity got the better of him and he asked, "How did I do what?"
---
Atera looked at him and thought about what she could answer. She knew he did something, but she did not know how to describe it. "Uh... well... You know... you just made me think of something that I could invent. Before, I really tried to think of something, but nothing came to my mind.", she tried to explain. Then she got up quickly and picked a device from her shelf. It was an electric shaver whose plastic hull was open and all the insides of it were visible. "See... I normally just repair things that were already invented. This is my job and I think I'm quite good in it. But I never got an idea of doing anything else. I just did what I was told to do... And now you are here and ask me and then..." Atera stopped. This was not good.
This small Grodi made her stop doing what the government and anyone else wanted her to do: just do her job and don't ask questions. It was what gave her little family the relatively high living standard in Grodan. She heard of other people who were arrested for acting against the rules and laws of the city. Most of them were dead or lived at the very bottom of society, which was almost the same. So this little guy was dangerous for her family, it was not a good thing to have him here.
She put the shaver away and then removed the toolbox from the plastic box. Atera pondered for a moment. Was this a wise move? But she did not think very long. Like most Grodis, she gave in to her first impulse and took the box off from the little intruder. "I-I think you should go now. Thi-this is just not right.", she stuttered and backed away a little, keeping the plastic box between him and her as some sort of shield.

((I took another shot at it, and I think this one is better. Maybe it'll leave room for you to reply now. ^^; sorry I took so long to come up with this :x ))
Colfax waited for her answer, slightly curious despite himself about what was going on. When she got up so suddenly, he flinched back in surprise. The electric shaver she retrieved made him nervous for just a moment. Then, he listened in on her explanation more carefully. She really seemed to be loyal to the system. Perhaps the government's suspicions were wrong?
What happened next happened so fast that it stunned him again. He watched with surprise as suddenly, the woman seemed nervous about him. She even shielded herself with the box, and told him to leave. His luck seemed to have turned back around.
He took some hesitant steps backwards. Then, seeing that she didn't look like she'd stop him, he moved faster until he was hidden back behind the tools again. His mission was effectively over. It was unfortunate that he'd have to report a breach in security anyway--since she'd seen him. He made his way towards the edge of the table nearest the door, giving one last sigh of relief before focusing on his next destination.
Sneaking around like an expert, Colfax made another really silly mistake. Focusing too much on where he was going took some of his focus on the things around him. And he walked right past the same magnet that had confounded him before. And, as before, it snared him with no trouble whatsoever. Stuck once again to the powerful magnet, Colfax felt his face redden with both embarassment and frustration as he tried to pry himself from it again.
He surely needed some sort of supplementary training. Colfax was having everything go wrong on this mission that could possibly go wrong. As he struggled against the magnet, he overshot his own strength and it fell over ... while he was still stuck to it. He barely had time to curse at himself before the thing fell over, and he felt the impact jar him from his head to his feet. He paused to take a deep breath, his eyelids fluttering as stars seemed to swim before his eyes.

((Well, I am sorry that I took so long to respond in the first place >_<. But your new shot really makes it much easier for me. thank you so much ^^))
Atera backed a little more away when the tiny Grodi began to move. He first seemed very surprised but then focused on finding a way out. She now was frozen to her spot, still clutching the plastic box as he had vanished behind her tools. The girl was not really sure how long he would take to finally leave the room. She just stared at her tools to see if she could make out any movement. And then her big magnet suddenly moved. First it rocked a bit and then tipped over. Atera could see that a tiny arm stuck out under it and it was sure that the tiny Grodi was trapped under the magnet's weight. She thought about what to do now. The small guy was obviously dangerous and maybe it would be better if he died... but she had second thoughts about this. She had no problem with getting rid of rodents, but this small creature was an intelligent being who could talk... She would not have it in her to let him die under there. Cautiously she moved closer and lifted the magnet and the little Grodi was stuck to it with his belt. He did not move very much. Maybe that magnet had hit his head? She turned the tool around, so he was not hanging from it anymore, but laid on it. Maybe this position was a bit more pleasant. She thought about freeing him from the tool, but that would mean that she would have to touch him, and she felt very uncomfortable about that. Who knew how he would react to it? Although she just wanted him to leave, she tried to talk to him again. Maybe he soon would feel better and could free himself. "Uh... hey little guy. Are you okay?"

(I'm sorry ... I understand if you don't want to do this rp anymore. But I would be glad to continue if you want. I have been preparing for tests so much that I forgot about it.)
Colfax's eyes slowly stopped fluttering, but the throbbing in his head remained. He felt a wave of nausea as he was lifted and turned over in the air, and he lay on the magnet, panting. He stared off into space, thinking hard. He was angry at himself. But ... he couldn't focus his mind to figure out why. A word floated hazily through his mind as he tried to think. Amnesia. But what exactly did he forget? It had been important to him, that's all he could muster.
He turned his head to look at the Grodi, his eyes narrowed with confusion and a little distrust. "What happened? I can't ... I can't tell ..." he trailed off and winced as a rather vicious throb of pain coursed through his head. And then, he decided to try to push himself off of the magnet again, hardly even noticing that he'd drop a long way if he succeeded.

((Don't worry. College goes first ^^ I would be glad to continue, too ^^))
It was obvious that he did not feel well. His voice did sound a bit weaker than before and his wincing told her that he was in pain. She watched him move with a mixture of worry and fascination. He really looked like a Grodi and his tiny limbs moved so fluently... Now she was completely sure that he was not some kind of machine but a living being.
Suddenly, he moved much more, somehow trying to roll over from the magnet. But she was still holding the tool way above the desk. "Oh no, he will fall.",was running through her mind. And although Atera had been hesitating before, she quickly moved her free hand to his side, so he would not be able to move off the tool. As his body touched her hand, a strange tingling feeling ran through her body. This was getting really bizarre. "H-hey, don't do that.", she said stammering. What should she do now? The little guy did not look like he was able to move much. so maybe it was safe to just put him down on the desk. Slowly she moved her hands down until they touched the tabletop. But she did not move much more than that and just stared at the tiny being in anticipation. What would he do now?

Colfax flinched slightly when they made contact, blinking slowly. It gave him a slight shiver, but he continued to try to at least sit up comfortably. With a low, frustrated huff, he finally pried himself free of the magnet's influence long enough to roll onto Atera's hand, just as she lowered him to the desk. He sat their for a moment, taking deep breaths. Then, suddenly realizing where he was, he shuffled off of her hand and back onto the desk, tripping a bit as he did. He had a faint feeling that he should not be in her hands, but still didn't remember why. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples slowly. "I don't remember how I got here," he blurted suddenly, frustrated with his bout with amnesia. He looked up at Atera, his gaze wary. "Do you?"
((Eep, it's kinda bad. Sorry!))

She let out a sigh of relif when he left her hand. She almost could not bear this strange feeling ithat occured to her when she was holding him. Although Atera had not seen much of him through the walls of the box before, the tiny guy seemed to be different now. He was not defiant anymore, but looked more confused and disorientated. She took a tentative step backwards when he spoke so suddenly. The wheels in her head were turning as she thought of a good answer. "Honestly, I don't know... you just showed up here... and you did not tell me anything about you.", she stammered. Maybe it was better not to mention that she had just imprisioned him in a box only a few minutes ago. "So... so you can't remember where you come from?", she asked carefully.

He kept massaging his temples, trying hard to jog his memory. All his brain would dredge up was that he didn't trust her all that much, but he could find no reason for it. With a frustrated huff, he started to pace on the surface of the desk. "I can't," he admitted as he walked back and forth. "I think I used to know who you are," he added, pausing and tapping his chin. The elusive almost-memory danced away from him again and he frowned. With a sigh, his shoulders drooped. He was worn out, unable to find his own memories, and he didn't know how to get them back.

Atera watched him walking around with an uncanny feeling. Something inside her told her to keep away from him, but there also was a feeling that she had been missing for years. It was something that every Grodi loses when they grow up: curiosity. As she heard him talk again, she snapped out of it and shook her head. "No. No that's not possible. We... we met for the first time today. How could you know me?", she stammered. Then she looked at the obvoulsy depressed little guy and felt pity for him. "Maybe... uh ... we can find a way to get your memory back... so you remember where your home is.", she offered. On the one hand she was curious about where he actually came from, but on the other hand, she also would want him to leave, since he could be dangerous for her and her family. "Maybe some food would help you feeling better.", she added and pointed at the plate with the bread crumbs near him, which she had placed there before.

"I knew her somehow," he muttered, thinking hard. "Where is 'home'?" he asked himself. Then, he sighed and shook his frustratingly-blank head. He looked at the plate she gestured to. He remembered having his ration, and that it was only barely filling. A little more food couldn't hurt at all. He walked to it cautiously, keeping constantly aware of his surroundings. Why was he so primed and ready for a run? It was like some sort of instinct told him to stay on guard, though he saw no immediate danger. And he found himself constantly calculating angles and routes of escape. What was that.
He didn't want to stand on the plate, because it just didn't feel right, so he reached the first few crumbs near the edge and crouched down to eat them. "Thank you ... " he said sheepishly after finishing. "I feel healthy but I still don't remember much. Only ..." he paused. "You, I know I suspected ... something of you. I can't think of what."

Atera watched the little guy eating. She pondered about what exactly he could be. Judging by his size, he could really be a Tigo-doll, one of the oldest and well known toys in Grodan. But he was alive... he could get hurt and now also ate the bread crumbs. Her eyes now locked on his hair. It was dark purple. Flashy colors were rare inside this city, and so this looked all the more strange to her. And the longer she looked at it, the more she got the feeling that he did not belong to this city...
She somewhat flinched when he suddenly spoke again, and her eyes unconsciously widened when he said that he suspected something of her. He could not know about it... or could he? She did not tell anyone...
Atera now tried her best to not act nervous, but she was not very good at lying and could not suppress a stuttering tone in her voice. "S-suspicious? Of me? I... I really can't imagine why. I'm just... just a normal working Grodi. I... I just do what I'm told to do.", she blurted out. She was very well aware that she must not have sounded very convincing. Feverishly, she thought about something to say that distracted him from this subject. And then she said, while crossing the arms in front of her chest:
"But you know what? I think that you are much more suspicious. At least you sneaked around in my room without my permission."

He stood up straighter as she stuttered nervously. His own intuition kicked in and he figured out quickly enough that his comment had at least shaken her. But that information didn't really mean anything to him. He didn't remember why he suspected her or even who had sent him there in the first place. It all seemed like a farce, when he thought about it. But that didn't stop him from having his guard up.
He rolled his eyes at her trying to act a little tougher. "If I had permission it wouldn't be sneaking," he muttered sarcastically. But it didn't seem like a good idea to argue semantics at the moment. "A spy would tend to be suspicious," he added, though there was a different tone to it than he expected. He couldn't help but agree with her. He didn't remember his own motivation for being there, so it all seemed suspicious and pointless. He fell silent, concentrating. It felt like crucial memories were just outside his reach. And the only hints they gave him were that he was indeed there to spy on the Grodi woman, under suspicion of .... something.
