Heya people! Just thought I'd post a new story up here, hope you like it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was two and a half centuries ago when the biggest event in universal history took place. No one knows what caused the event; there was no eclipse or aligning of the planets, it just happened. Our world, the world of humans, merged with an unknown world. The world of all we believed to be mere myths. There were no earthquakes or tsunamis when it happened; nothing was destroyed. The planets just bonded, shifting and molding to make a much larger sphere of life. The forests and prairies expanded and merged with the wildlife of the other planet.
After about a year of avoiding each other, leaders from both of the old planets met, and some shocking discoveries were made. The biggest was that Earth and Domustera, the “alien’s” name for their planet, had been exact duplicates; probably from parallel universes. They spoke our languages, had our religions, and their history wasn’t too different from ours. The geography of the planets was even similar. The size and races of the inhabitants, however, had little in common.
The smallest of the Domusterians were called Parvians, and they stood at roughly fifteen feet on average for males, while the females usually stood at thirteen. Like all the Domusterians, they were half human, half random animal. These were the Domusterians that humans felt more comfortable around.
The largest of the Domusterians were the Maiorians. Maiorians were feared by humans as soon as the first sighting was made. These fearsome creatures stood around the one-hundred foot mark, but some towered at a hundred-fifty. Among the Maiorians stood a rare race of Domusterians; the Belluians. These creatures appeared to be normal Maiorians, but they could morph into frightening beasts that resembled a gargoyle with an archangel’s face
The Belluians were the ones that broke the peace between Earthlings and Domusterians. They insisted that the Domusterians were the dominant of the inhabitants of this new planet and that they should enslave the humans. To the misfortune of us humans, the idea caught like a wildfire; and thus the Dividing War began.
Some of the Parvians disagreed with the thought of one race being more dominant than the other, so they joined the side of the humans. Their forces added to our more advanced weapons were what allowed us to win; but at far too great a price. Human cities were completely demolished just to build barracks for the Maiorian troops, crushing all those unable to flee. We made sure they were avenged.
A favored weapon of the humans became a device not much smaller than an elephant called Hell’s Angel. It was a round bomb that exploded on contact, sending out razor thin shrapnel and a cloud of methane gas. Then the second shell that sits inside the first bomb is set of manually and boom; the Maiorians are nothing but ash.
The Dividing War lasted up until two centuries ago, when the opposing Domusterians surrendered. A treaty was formed stating that the Earthlings and Domusterians were to live separate from each other, and the punishment for a Domusterian found enslaving, consuming, or anything of the like to humans would be death.
It’s amazing how those fifty years molded and shaped our home, Tribuoterra, “The Divided World”.

And here's chapter one!
WARNING!!!! There is mild violence in this chapter starting around paragraph 11.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alexis Breen shifted her pack as she trudged eastward through the sea of tall grass that made up the Great Western Prairie. She had been on her trek for three days now, and the straps were starting to rub her shoulders raw. The heat radiating from the midmorning sun wasn’t a pleasant feeling either, but she kept on.
Her journey had started at her home on the western edge of the prairie, where she lived in a farmhouse with her aunt Marie and her six year-old cousin Gwen. Alexis’s parents and uncle had been killed by a Belluian only four months ago, leaving them with no one but themselves. A group of Maiorians had been spotted about a hundred miles from the farm house, and it was said that they planned to settle. The thought was unnerving for the Breen family to have the gargantuan creatures living so close to them; the loss of their family still fresh on their minds. It was decided that Alexis would set across the Great Western Prairie and scout out a new place for the family to live, hire some help to build a cabin, and then fetch her aunt and Gwen when it would be time to move.
Under normal circumstances, Marie would never send her niece out alone, but she had no choice. Even if they took the wagon, the harsh winter that was only a week away would be merciless on a child as young as Gwen, and then the cabin wouldn’t be built for another month, at least. Another reason was, well, it was no journey for a woman who was five-months pregnant to make.
Alexis was a strong girl at the ripe age of sixteen and no longer bearing the appearance of a child. She had all the curves of a woman but kept them hidden beneath baggy work clothes, keeping the men that she encountered in an air of disappointment. She was her father’s spitting image with her jet black waves that fell to the middle of her back, big chocolate-colored eyes, and heart shaped face. She had acquired only her pixy nose and full lips from her mother. Her porcelain skin was something she had gained from them both, and it never tanned no matter how long she worked out beneath the unforgiving sun. They had raised her to be strong. She could out hunt, out run, and sometimes even out lift any man, so it was no question that she could take care of herself.
A few hours later, Alexis climbed over a small hill and spotted her destination. Standing maybe three miles ahead was the forest. She had planned to make camp under the cover of its trees and head out in the morning to find the creek that would lead her to the village of Bainsport. It would take her all of tomorrow to find the creek, and maybe a week to reach the village where she would hire workers to help build her family’s new cabin.
It only took about half an hour Alexis to reach the trees, and just in time. Behind her the sky was painted with splashes of pink and orange as the sun retreated behind the tall waving grass, but she didn’t watch. She rolled back the sleeves of her white work shirt and started to set up camp.
It wasn’t too long before the crackle of her fire could be heard as she cooked strips of the deer that she had killed the day before. She finished setting up her tent and went inside to wash off with a moist rag. After she was through with that, she let her hair out of its braid and got into her white cotton night gown. She set her pallet up, slipped on her black coat and black boots, and then stepped out into the chilly night air to take her meal off the fire.
Once she was full, Alexis brushed her teeth and crawled into her tent for some well deserved shut-eye. She snuggled deep into her blanket and was about to drift off to sleep when she remembered something. She reached into her pack that she was using as a pillow and dug around until she found it; her grandfather’s dagger. It was silver with twin snakes wrapped around the hilt, each with rubies for eyes. She pulled the blade from its sheath to admire its beauty before sliding it back in and cradling to her chest before falling into a peaceful sleep.
It wasn’t even an hour later when Alexis was awoken by the sound of rustling outside her tent. She sat up cautiously and watched as a shadow slowly lurked through her camp. She quietly reached into her pack and pulled out her black pants and green cotton shirt. She slipped them on silently along with her boots and coat. The intruder was now rooting through her cooking supplies making quite a racket. She pulled her dagger from its sheath and held it at her side, ready for an attack as she slipped out of her tent.
Her breath caught in her throat. The light of the moon was enough for Alexis to see the thing snooping around her camp, and she wished she hadn’t. It was a male Parvian. He had a long tail and big round ears, but she couldn’t figure out what animal the traits belonged to. He was nothing but flesh and bones, and in some places, not even that. He had large wounds covering his arms and chest, all of them appeared infected. Alexis gagged; she could smell the rot wafting off of him.
The Parvian hadn’t noticed that he had been spotted, and continued rutting around. When he came to the fire, Alexis’s stomach dropped. He was a rat. His eyes looked like blood red beads and his snout was covered in scars. His whiskers were frazzled and his giant ghastly teeth were so rotted that they had multiple holes in them. A normal Parvian rat would only have two rat facial features, the whiskers and slight buck teeth, but nothing else. This rat was mad. The infections had probably gotten to his head and eaten away at his sanity.
Alexis shifted to slip back inside her tent to get her bow and arrows, but froze when a twig snapped beneath her boot. The rat saw her instantly. He stood to his full height and hissed, spit flying from his gruesome maw. He lowered himself back onto all fours and charged; mouth wide open.
Alexis dodged the attack by jumping aside, letting the rat get caught in the tent; but before she could find a place to stab him through the cloth, he tore through. He took a swipe at her with a clawed hand. She ducked and raised the knife, slicing him in between his middle and ring finger. He let out a howl of pain.
“There’s more where that came from you ugly son of a—,” Alexis was cut off when the rat charged her again, this time slamming into a tree when he missed, but the thing bounced back fast this time.
Alexis stood her ground as he ran at her, only juking to the side at the last second, running past him and slicing into his leg. She hadn’t been thinking about his tail though, and was more than surprised when it smacked her across the face.
She fell to the ground hard and the rat was on top of her in an instant, his rotting breath filling her lungs. He lunged towards her throat, not even bothering to pin down her arms. Alexis quickly brought the dagger up and jammed it into his left eye and pulled it out with a sickening slurp, thankfully leaving the squishy orb behind. The rat reared back and let out the most God awful scream Alexis had ever heard, allowing her to scramble deeper into the woods.
She hadn’t run very far before she heard the heavy footfalls of the mad Parvian, and he was gaining. She urged herself to go faster, but the beast’s legs were much longer. She could only hope her will to survive was a harder drive than his insanity.
Suddenly, there was an earth shaking thump. The force of the quake knocked Alexis off her feet and sent her tumbling into a tree. She sat there dazed, but soon heard the rat not even ten yards behind her. She scrambled to stand, using the tree for support, but the rat was too fast. He swiped at her, leaving five jagged gashes running from her shoulder to her spine. She screamed in pain and fell to her knees. The rat descended on her before she could even draw her dagger. She closed her eyes and braced herself, knowing it was the end.
The rat opened his jaws wide, and was going in for the kill when there was another thump, and then another. Alexis felt the rat turn away from her, and as soon as she opened her eyes, she was smacked in the face by his massive tail again, sending her sprawling on the ground. All she could see were stars, and a faint shriek was heard along with more thumping. Then silence.
Finally, her vision cleared, but something wasn’t right. There was something huge and black in front of her, and it kind of resembled a boot. She moaned and rolled on her back before rubbing her eyes and looking back at the boot. Still there. She followed the boot up and up and up…her breath caught for the second time that night.
There was a Maiorian leaning over her, slowly moving his massive hand down towards her.
“Dear God…” She whimpered, and then the world went black. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
